Can a man who nearly overcame Monzon (a faded one) matador this ferocious little bull?

I'm sure most will say yes...any nay-sayers, other than yours' truly?

Wow, great matchup. Gonna have to do a little Youtube homework before offering an opinion. It's a shame we never got to see Ayala get the big fights that would've been available to him. It would have been explosive (not to mention making these comparisons a little easier). I saw the Valdez - Monzon fights, but in picking this one I'd want to see how Valdez handled a more straight ahead brawling type.

I think if Rodrigo can get past Bad Bennie Briscoe three times without incurring a loss, I think Mr Valdez would Gain a pair of Ears from this immature bull rather easily, Tony might be dangerous very early, but Rodrigo was dangerous all the time, much the better athlete.

Valdez beat Tony like he stole something.

I rewatched the first Monzon - Valdez fight. I thought Valdez looked a little lethargic. I'd forgotten that his brother was killed a week before the fight. I also watched the first two rounds (so far) of the rematch. Monzon had a helluva chin because that right hand Valdez knocked him down with was huge and right on the button. I have to go with Valdez by late round stoppage. Ayala just never got in there with anyone really good to use as a measuring stick.

Valdez would beat Ayala so bad he would retire afterwards.

Ayala wouldnt beat Briscoe, nevermind Valdez.

Valdez would have first outboxed Ayala silly, and then finished him with the same type of shot that felled Briscoe.

Valdez TKO8 Ayala . Tony´s corner would throw in the towel to prevent Tony of getting killed.

I definitely think Ayala could beat Briscoe, as he wasn't very fast, thus easy to hit.

Valdez certainly was a solid contender at MW, certainly impressive in three wins over Briscoe. However he also lost to a faded Monzon twice. I think if he guns with Ayala and Tony gets his ribs, he would be in trouble.

Yeah, and even a faded Monzon would have beaten the holy hell outta Ayala.

If Tony slips the jab and gets to the body, maybe not.
