Yes, but men shrink as they age. Most news papers of the times who took out the tape list Jeffries at 6'1" 1/2".

I have a picture of Jeffries, Corbett and Choynski in the ring, and Jeffries seems to have an inch on Corbett, who was about 6'1"

I'm with you ... there have been too many photos of Jeff where he looks smaller than the 6'1" plus ... here is one that guarantees he is at least that tall.

Off topic, Jeffries was also a minor league baseball player. Never saw his stats though.

I HAVE ALLWAYS ACCEPTED jEFF AT 6-1 1/2 BECAUSE CONTEMPORY MEASUREMENTS, AS DISTINCT FROM SPECULATION, CONSISTANTLY GAVE HIM AT 6-1 OR 6-1 1/2.
