I think Cooper is pretty underrated, actually.

He would dominate at Cruiserweight. Nice boxing skills & decent power. If he could avoid cuts. Should even be able to outhustle some heavyweights.

He would outbox Matt Skelton and Michael Sprott and Danny Williams.

But Enzo Macchiarelli might beat him.

David Haye would beat him, IMO.

(I think the British cruiserweights could beat the British heavyweights today)

On the world scene, Cooper would be a contender at cruiserweight, but he'd not be a champion, IMO. He certainly wouldn't dominate.

Against top heavyweights he'd lose 9 out of 10 times at least, which is about how successful he was in his own era.
Apart from a points win over Zora Folley (who KO'd him quickly in a subsequent fight), I cant recall Cooper having any big wins on the world scene.

You are making the combined British heavyweight an cruiserweight divisions today sound a lot like the British heavyweight division back in Coopers day.

A few big mediocre fighters with the ones of world calibre principlaly being under 200lbs.

The Cruiser division isn't in bad shape, the Heavies are the worst I can remember since the early 80's. Quarless, Westgarth etc.

he would beat the top british fighters for sure.

he might win the euro belt as well, but lets not forget cooper had a weak chin!!
virchis might take him out.

against peter, wlad, chagaev he would lose.

but he would stand a chance against ibragimov or maskaev.
