So yea I wanna see your thoughts on this fight with Fedor. Im kinda new to MMA, actually Tim made me kinda get into it. I used to watch Spike TV a lot and they showed a lot of Maineiac fights. He's RAW :deal

Who wins in your eyes?

Fedor stoppage.

Tim has decent chances.

Tim has a puncher's chance in my view. He's tall and has a big reach and big knees. But Fedor has incredible ground/throwing skills, so if this goes to the ground, Fedor will submit Sylvia pretty quickly- probably with an armbar or an americana. It should be a great fight though! I can't wait.

Tim has a great right hand thats pulled him 2 huge upsets in the past so yes he has a chance but a good chance id say no.

There's always a chance in MMA. Like jack Dempsey said - never bet on fights. But if I was a betting man - which I am I would not bet against Fedor.

More than likely it will be five rounds of hell of Timmay.

Timmy by points.Fedor prefers upperbody takedowns and it will be difficult
to reach Sylvia and go through those hands.

Fedor is too explosive on his feet and way too explosive on the ground. Not to mention being the most skilled fighter and toughest on in the division. Tim has size, but size can be neutralized and will be. Fedor stoppage or submission victory.

Seriously?

Fedor has the takedown arsenal, and balance of a Judoka. Body takedowns are actually easier against taller opponents, because the legs are used.. Judo body locks don't require you to overpower, just use angles and balance.

Tim has faced tougher opposition more recently, I don't picture Fedor as a fighter who wont be sharp, especially against an American. But have to give Tim a punchers chance. I think Fedor takes him down EASILY and pounds his face in.

He has a chance, not a good one.

Yes he does. Add in Fedor hasen't fought exactly the greatest comp recently.

But I do think Fedor wins.

Sylvia has basically no chance. That in and of itself should be a cause for concern. I felt similarly when the first GSP-Serra match happened!

Basically I feel strongly that Fedor will move in and out, negotiate the distance, land a big punch that inturn sets up a takedown, transitioning into a submission.

In reality; Who the hell really knows... To be continued!

I just dont see how any MMA fan could say Sylvia has no chance knowing the upsets he pulled off. Thinking about it just about every fight that his opponet was picked to roll over him like Ricco,Vera,2nd and 3rd Arlovski fights Tim went in and beat them all sometimes brutally.

He has an okay chance, because of his size and the fact he uses it pretty well, he stands a better chance than most against Fedor, imo.

Still expect him to get tapped.

I was the only one who voted for Fedor by points. I think Sylvia might be resilient enough to make it to the end.

I don't like the particular style matchup for Tim really.

I only voted for him because nobody else did, so I was the first one.

I hope Tim pulls this off!

Also, go to the dentist son.

No , he has a chance to beat him. I'm the first guy who tends to talk shit about Sylvia but like i said so many times , as one dimensional as he is...He's still pretty big. 6'8 tall....Wlad Klitschko who's concidered to be tall is 6′6½...

Not that i'm comparing his striking skills or anything...I've always said that Tim was slow as shit...Having said that , it's MMA....and anything can happen...especially when that "one dimensional" guy has ko power , a solid sprawl & good wrestling and again...His size helps him a lot.

Fedor should be capable to beat him but it's impossible to be 100% sure about the outcome of this fight. And let's not forget the "cuts"....a fight can be stopped because of a fucking cut.

It happened to vitali vs lennox...it happened to fedor in his second fight vs nogueira , and in his fight vs TK...he also had a big cut vs Lindland (but he was fast enough to finish him in the 1rst round)....

it should be interesting...I'm still predicting fed via submission...worst case scenario , fed by UD...but an upset is possible too

I heard a rumour along time ago, that Fedor Emelianenko is called 'Fedor' or was called ie had his name spelled 'Fedor' by Pride management due to marketing reasons. I have also heard it was spelled Fedor because the Japanese had a hard time pronouncing or understanding the spelling Fyodor.

I do not know if these rumours are true. But I have never seen a Russian called Фёдор translated into english as Fedor, except in the case of Emelianenko. It has always been to my knowledge translated as Fyodor.

That's possible. I have different spellings of my name also for the same reason. It's easier to pronounce it in certain spelling in certain countries.

I have seen Russians write their name as Fedor, because thats just translated letter by letter and its the same but pronounciation isn't. So its up to the the owner.

Regardless, in Russian, they have same exact name.
