People on the General forum have been discussing a similar topic.

What are some of the better Aussie brother boxing family's.

I'll start with the Waters boys.

Dean - Competitive Heavy at Australian level
Guy - Decent Commonwealth light heavy just a touch below world class
Troy - Best of them, jnr Middle who fought champions like Tito, Simon Brown and Terry Norris for world titles.

Your Thoughts

P.S Actually all 3 were born in England but migrated to Oz at a young age.

the hussein brothers have really underperformed considering the amount of hype they got.

Kelly boys Glen and Kevin. Both world title challenges and held countless titles.

Is there any chance you could post some sort of journal or update of your fights/sparring experiences for us? I know it would be time consuming and stuff so if not thats okay, I would just be really interested to hear what goes on behind the scenes. I remember the footage i saw of you and you boxed well for a big guy. Be interesting to see how you fair in the US.

Bobby

How do you do your weights? Explosive?

MSTR
07-25-2007, 02:15 AM
Cheers mate. Anything and everything would be both interesting and appreciated. Whatever you find time or feel bothered putting down. Things like different people within the boxing game, or different fighters you might meet and what they are like. Venues and promoters and what sort of things you guys look to improve to get you further with your career. How much footage you watch? Just anything would be interesting. Do you do much running at the moment? How intense are the sparring sessions that you do and are you generally fighting guys who are better or worse then yourself?

Bobby

mstr, some good ideas i will have to setr up some sort of journal/blog thing to write in

marcus, my weight training changes, right now i am in a hypertrohpy phase, i will then go to a strength phase, then close to a fight plyometrics and power phase, each phase is characterised dy diff rep,set amounts, rest time and exercise choice and the way they are performed

It never is too easy fightin in Australia with such a small range of fighters to compete against.

Would have loved to see u step it up with the likes of a Nathan Briggs or Hopoate or the like.
Maybe one day.:deal

your still putting on size?? .......holy crap!!! how big do you want to get? i hope you keep nice and nimble with a heap of stretching? do you seperate stretching sessions or just do them in your training you stated before?

Bobby
07-25-2007, 03:52 AM
i dont really do stretching sessions ,boxing doesnt require much flexibility and im reasonable nimble for a guy my size,
im not trying to get bigger i need to maintain size as i am a built up heavy ala holyfield, shane cameron

kegsy-im pretty sure ill be in against tougher opp in the states than the ones you mentioned, and for better money than here

I just wish i had seen u in with better opponents here in Australia thats all.
All the best of luck.
Maybe u can get it on with Bowie Tupou??:think Isn't he still in USA.

if you want to see me in tough fights check out my fight with alex leapai , that was a good lesson for taking fights when not in top shape, i didnt learn my lesson properly though until i got knocked out in my only loss!

His team were calling out Hoppa at one stage too.
Yeah that match with Leapai was a tough quality Aussie matchup.:good

Signing up with Don King must have been a scary thought, based on his reputation. How have you found him to be in person?

mstr, king seemed like a good showman and businessman, i am under no illusion he cares about me or my welfare, we are using each other to get where we want, boxing is cruel business from top to bottom, sharks all the way

Fair enough. I never put too much stock in rumours anyway. If he was the total mongrel that everyone makes out people simply wouldn't sign with him. He surely does some dodgy stuff, but I guess thats the nature of the business like you said.
