Lacy says:
"I'm going to have to lean toward Kessler. He's more of a puncher, I think Calzaghe is more of a hype type puncher. He needs to put his punches together, and I don't think he's going to be able to do that against a taller, lankier opponent, against Kessler."

I'd take that with a grain of salt, since Calzaghe essentially ended his career with that brutal thrashing.

since this is the case, then don't you think he'd be more inclined to talk up Calzaghe?

That's quite a stupid comment from Lacy... saying that Calzaghe is overated after the way he got his ass handed to him by the Welsh.
I still personally have to lean toward Kessler. I see him winning a UD by fighting tall and keeping Calzaghe, who likes to fight on the inside, at bay with his sharp and precise jab.

No, he's just bitter is old Jeff Lacy. It's not like he needs to talk up Calzaghe for the sake of his legacy.

He thinks Kessler has a bigger punch. Is that really some kind of massive slam on Calzaghe?

Lacy speaks like someone who knows his career is over. So, he can be honest about his assessment.Kessler would kick his ass too, and Jeff knows it.

i found it funny he talked about a tune up fight, and then mentioned manfredo:rofl
Manfredo IS a tune-up fight. But Allan Green deserves a tune-up fight as well. Perhaps Mora?

No kidding. It's like Trinidad when he gave his input on the outcome of Hopkins - Wright.
Edit: Lacy's comment actually means less, considering Trinidad fought both of them, albeit getting thrashed both times.

Calzaghe's beating put him on the back burner, made all the yanks turn there back on him. After Calzaghe he was written off as an over-hyped bum, Tsypko just did nothing to change it.

Wasnt Lacy the bigger puncher too:hey

Of course not. He wants to see the guy who was his worst nightmare go down in flames. Its only natural.
((((((((((((((GO KESSLER)))))))))))))))
And NOT because Lacy wants vengence any way he can get it.:yep

No, why would he be talking up someone that ruined him? Most people get sour about such things and wish to see the destroyer fall to another destroyer.
Furthermore, most fighters are horrible at picking fights, Lacy's picking on emotion. I wouldn't trust the pick of someone who thought he himself was going to defeat Calzaghe, that didn't quite workout.

I find it weird that he's picking Kessler to beat the man that destroyed him.
:yep
Why not? Had he fought Kessler instead of JC, he might not even be here today to give his opinion.
