How long has this guy been training for?

All I can say is "ouch". Not bad form there either.

Congratulations to both of you.

From the side I was at and in those pictures his eyes were rolled in the back of his head.
I am very upset at his corner they would have allowed him to fight if the ref didnt stop it, the kid went limp and in 19 seconds with nearly a full three rounds to go I would have thrown in the towel right there, they didnt have any ice bags nothing, and these guys are supposed to ensure the saftey of these kids especially being that they dont get paid.:-(

ya no problem man and wish for me to get a fight in a little bit:good:happy

Keep working hard, you will be fine, the key thing to remember is that everybody is nervous in there no matter what they look like, stay focused and do what you trained to do, meaning throw what you have worked on try to stay away from throwing sloppy shit, you didnt train to fight that way so how is that or could that work?
Keep punching:good

He gets B+ here, seriously his second fight its expected for him to be a bit nervous again especially after comming off of a loss, but once he threw what we worked on it was over.
He told me after the fight, "I didnt even throw that shot hard" I told him you didnt have to you hit him right on the button, The angle I saw the fight from you could see the kids eyes roll back as he went limp, He looked the way Jones Jr did when Tarver hit him. Perfect left hook right hand on the button.

That is exactly what happened with a super heavy from our club. He went out like a mad man and Kolya and my coach yelled "Straight punches!" and bang bang bang....it was over.

Looks good Bazooka. He was a bit wild at first but what a way to end it. He's very Tysonesque (ducking low, coming back with hooks), is he staying at this weightclass fighting tall guys or is he still coming down?

I am going to speak with him today when he comes back to the gym, I could have fought him again at that club Saturday but I decided not to he deserves to enjoy this for now, he worked hard for it.
But in my mind I think its time we test the waters and see if we cant take off another 6 pounds or so and still be as strong.
Thanks again, yes he was wild early, once I told him to stop with that sloppy shit he finished the fight.

The first thing I thought when the video rolled was that your son has a kinda stocky build. Then he started moving and damn, the boy moves that frame around pretty quickly. He did a great job.

He isnt my son, My Kid, Meaning fighter, but yeah I make sure that when he moves he must do it quickly so that way he doesnt allow his man to get anything going he is very fast I wish he didnt start out as wild but I cant complained he settled down and handled it.

Totally understandable but he is like a son to me only I aint old enough, he is 19 im 32 so unless I was fucking around at a young age which I wasnt my mother is catholic to the bone, anyhow he is like family to me its been great working with him.

Good stuff man, it'd be cool to spar with your guy sometime. He's my age and close to my weight, too. That dude he fought was damn near my height, needs to learn to keep his freakin' hands up if he's gonna fight again. Your boys opponent, that is.

Yeah, I noticed that too... Dude's hands are nowhere near his head. Knowing that the KO was coming 19 seconds in, it made me kinda cringe the first time watching it, like "oh boy, here it comes..."

yah good thing the ref stopped it, i hate corners like that, this isnt a pro fight and if your dowwn in the first twenty and not getting paid to do this oyu should be protected by your corner becasue most fighters wont quit, wouldnt be a fighter if you did, and the corner has to realise that and protect there boys (and girls)

A few questions:

1. He gets in with out a punch being thrown as if he were slipping a punch that is not there.
Can you explain that?

2. Does he hit harder than the average 160 lber?

3.When he gets inside, do you tell him to stay there or throw a combo and get out?

I ask because my coach sucks, I am short and aggressive and could learn something by watching this guy.

Your kid did very good. Congratulations to both of you.
Unfortunatelly I couldn't see all the improvement he made last 2 months but that wasn't his fault. His opponent didn't look ready for fight.
Keep up the great work you 've been doing.

Regarding your first question it is not neseccary to slip only when a punch is thrown for 2 reasons: a) slipping allows you to use your full weight when you throw a left or right cross and b) it is very difficult to slip a punch exactly when is thrown. If you watch Tyson fights he used to slip before the punches were thrown.
Bazooka's fighter looks pretty strong on the inside.
You should use in and out movement only when you are facing problems landing punches to your opponent of he seems very strong and doesn't faze and he pills points from you.

Sorry Bazooka I couldn't resist replying to those questions. :p
Of course Bazzoka's opinion maybe different from mine.

I mean as far as getting in and out-if you get in and are domintating as the shorter guy, shouldn't you stay in until your opponet escapes or drops? As opposed to getting in and letting off, getting out and having to work your way back in.

I guess it is a matter of style-
My style is like Bazooka's fighter except I don't have as much action as him when out of punch range. I stalke like trinidad and try to move my body like tyson.
I think if I was as busy on the outside as Bazooka's fighter I would do better.

Very nice work man.. Clean shots for sure. I like Mathews aggresiveness and movement. Maybe work on keeping his hands a bit higher? Did not really need to in this one though. Good times. Lets get together soon man. Keep up the hard work, it showed in this one bro.

I always tell him to move his head, assume they will jab even if they dont, if your slipping your head is moving making you a much harder target to hit as your stepping on the inside, it also allows him to shift his weight so he can get off when he sees the opening kind of how Iron Mike use to the man is short 5'3 he has to fight like that, this guy was very tall so the idea was for him to get that head movement going and slip his way in and let his hands go.

Does he hit? fuck yes he can bang i have been telling people this from the get you really dont under stand his power unless you have sparred with him or done mit work with him.

and to answer the last question when he gets inside I want him to step around after he gets his shots off, not to step out, but around and throw more before the other guy can reset his feet, he does this very well in sparring I was hoping to see it in this fight but ill take the quicky in this one.

I would say your trainer did the right thing, Honestly you always get the first time jitters going in, maybe if the guy had one fight cool but by their 4th fight usally they have settled into it more while this is still your first time, they would have that edge alone going for them and for a short fight like this, by the time you worked out the jitters more than likely the fight would have been over.
My kid had 1 fight going in, the other guy had 0 fights both Novice.

Step to the side as in how Tyson steps to the right so that his left hook lands into the front of his opponets face?

its sort of like stepping under that right hand banging the left hook to the body the right to the body the left to the head and the right to finish it, that was what he through to stop the show.
its not exactly Tysons style he is still green but we are going that dirrection with him becuase of his height

A right hook is hard to thro. I get off balance.
I just started learning over hand right. My coach only showed my the straight right over the years.

its really not as hard as you think, once you fire that left hook your weight shifts to the other leg allowing you to throw that right hook to the body which sets up a left hook either to the head or the body again and from there you can throw another right hand, in that sequence it was left hook (Body) Right hook (Body) Left Hook (chin) straight right hand (chin)

No glass chin I dont think, I know for sure my kid can bang, I have sparred with him myself, and let me tell you when he hits you your teeth rattle, it hurts when he lands even when he isnt loading up that shit just hurts.

He looked a little unsettled at first. Looking down and a bit wild. When he settled back a little and actually looked at who he was punching it didn't last very long. Congratulations Bazooka. He needs to tighten up his hooks a little also, he is looping them some. Just my two cents. Tell him good job and keep working hard.

He knows the mistakes made in that fight, though it was short he knows he was a bit wild, had his hands down didnt focus on his balance until he settled down.
we are working this all becuase he knows his next fight is going to be a hard fight, he knows that he is going to face a man who can take that shot and walk right through it.
so we are back in the gym and looking to fight in a couple of weeks from now.

Thanks man!!:good BTW, What I did notice on that video, is when you see the combonation he lets go, watch his right foot, he springs off of it as he fires the right hand, perfectly almost like Tyson would have.

My oh my. Who taught that guy to fight with his right hand at his waist???

Anyway congratulations to Matthew for picking up on that and handing him a good left. When will he fight again? I'd like to see a erm, little bit of a longer fight. It was a little short to see the full extent of his flair. But oh well, a win is a win -go knock out artist.

Well to me, he had Zero respect for my kid, from the start he was mad dogging him during the introductions, infact I remember when we picked up our gloves from the commission, his trainer looked at my kid and told him this is going to be easy, assuming my kid couldnt touch him becuase of the height difference.
so to me all together I dont think the kid had any respect for my kid, he was mad dogging him during the intros, and went right after my kid, I expected this kid to use that jab and box but that didnt happen he basicly fought my kids fight.
it through my kid off for a min, he didnt expect him to come out like that which is why early he was a bit sloppy. once he settled down the fight was over, I really had the best view of it in the house I could see his eyes roll back when Matthew landed that left hook right hand:hey
