Who are the 5, p4p, hardest hitting British punchers of the last 30 years?
In order.
Punchers as in, one punch or a few punch combos.
Lets hear your views...

Hamed
Lewis
Haye
Bruno
Benn
Nice list, Is that in order?
Yeah, roughly. Haye/Bruno is a bit of a toss up, if Haye looks to have one punch power at heavy too I'd conclusively rule in his favour.

I just picked this question out of thin air without really thinking about who I would put in; that list looks kind of like a definitive one though. I'm not sure who else you could put in there without crowbaring them in.... will have to have a think...
Hamed
Lewis
Haye
Bruno
Benn That's pretty much it, I think Haye probably hits harder than all the rest but needs a few more names on his record to affirm that. Lewis was the best puncher technically though.

I know what you mean. Lennox's power was immense, but kind of controlled and contained at the same time; and at no devaluation to that power.

Very good list, how about Herbie Hide? Probably misses out, but he's worth a thought.
Dunky McCafferty

What about Wayne Alexander? OK, he wasnt the best fighter, but he had awesome power, that carried to world level. Average fighter, awesome power. I think hes worth a shout.

I think pound for pound British punchers - Colin Jones has got to be high on the list

Hamed (T)KO'ed several tough chinned World Class opponents (Steve Robinson, Manuel Medina, Wilfredo Vasquez, Paul Ingle, Vuyani Bungu.............the list goes on and on). Who did Wayne Alexander KO? Takaloo. Please.
Alexander was destructive and possibly hit harder than Hamed P4P. Possibly. But Hamed was more destructive as he landed and consistently (T)KOed top flight opposition.

Haye is a phenomnally powerful puncher
And I am not a Haye lover - I'm just being fair
No body knocks out Mormeck the way Haye did - sheer power

No doubt Hamed was a big puncher
But the top boys were able to withstand the power
Marco Antonio Barrera
Wayne McCollough
Vincezo Belcastro
Manuel Calvo
Manuel Medina - retired on his stool
For me Alexanda was a more explosive one punch merchant - like that Takloo shot was devestating:yikes

he crossed my mind
I think he is underrated puncher - cos he held himself back after the Watson tradegy
but lets not forget that shot on Watson - one humugous uppercut
Eubank at his best was a devesating puncher

Haye is a VERY good puncher but the Mormeck KO was as much to do with fatigue. Haye is getting above Hamed, Benn, Lewis, Bruno on some lists FFS!!!

Thats true, I remember after the collins defeat the comeack fight lasted all of round 1. But if he had come to terms with the what happened to watson I wreckon after him knocking collins down the first time he would have finished the job.

Paul Ryan had good power but probably a leakier defence than Derby County :deal
The shot from Thaxton lives long in the memory

His defense was pretty bad but his chin was even worse. Probably the worst I've ever seen on a top class boxer. Great to watch though, does anyone know what he's up to these days?

yeah thats right he knocked someone out in a number of seconds
I went to school with Pipers nephew
But amazingly people didnt use to admire his uncle - they use to take the piss out of the boy - because his uncle took a hammering from Nigel Benn.
True.

A few that have not been mentioned (I think) that deserve consideration; Dave McAuley; Paul Hodkinson; Ross Hale (at domestic level); Honeyghan; Chris Pyatt and Neville Brown (again, at a certain level); Glenn Catley; Henry Wharton; Tom Collins and Gary Mason.

Gary Mason.
Gary Mason! There's a British boxing name I'd totally forgot about. He's little mentioned; Lewis was his only defeat.

Jon Thaxton?
Chris Okoh?
Scott Dixon?
My pick
Paul Wesley

Junior Witter is the classic example of a puncher with a non-punchers resume
Lack of work-rate/defensive mindset ruin his KO ratio.

I do, Jeff
I haven't actually been to a boxing show yet, they are in short supply in Leeds. My experience is generally limited to watching my best mates 7 year old nephew chinning people at Muay Thai :rofl
If Witter uses the right hook in an uppercut type of motion - see Harris fight, it would KO most 140lb'ers, and would put a fair few 147lb'ers in bother. He could have been much better than what he has - if he had trusted his chin a bit more

Absolutely. This is the guy that KO'd decent operators like Thobela in his back yard, who went the distance with Kessler!
Yet his KO ratio, 30% :huh
Boxing is illogical on paper.

Boxing is illogical on paper. Karl Taylor outpointed Thobela who knocked out Glenn Catley. lol ... find a better form line then that.
