this video is not meant to rub it in - Enzo lost - but you can't blame him for being confident before the fight as every fighter has to psyche themselves up for a big fight
I am more focused on his comment at the start of the interview where he talks about the No 1 and No 2 in the world
Do people agree or disagree?

if anyone deserved egg on their face it's Enzo Calzaghe who talked down on Haye before the fight and still refuses to give Haye credit now after the fight

Even Boxing Monthly had him outside the top 5. The top two cruiserweights thing was just made up to promote the fight, as was the "unification" thing.
Cunningham was a clear number 2.

Each to their own but not for me......
The way that cha (u) mps are allowed to get away with ridiculously easy defences is totally beyond me, and the rankings system is shocking. Every time a new set of rankings is published a Sports Network fighter is #2 or #3, with a feather fisted guy moving up in weight just infront or behind. The WBO then orders an eliminator to decide #1 contender or simply an interim match. The champ then vacates because the fight is a joke and hey presto - ****** has a new world champion!
This isn't just a co-incidence surely - it happens every bloody week.
Perhaps Buncey can shed some light on why a SN fighter never seems to challenge for WBC title, other than in a unification fight...........
Anyone know when Enzo is returning to the ring? What's the latest...
Will he fight Banks or Alexeev soon for the vacant title?

Yes but you'll notice this pattern all over: French promoters seem(ed) to have a firm grasp on the WBA title, Mexicans the WBC, favourable treatment is everywhere nowadays.
I'll agree the whole political setup is bollocks of course.

Fuck cuntingham, he is dog poo and macca would easily beat him. I have seen him fight a few times and the guy stinks the place out with his boring boxing.

I think Alexeev is more likely to face him. Could fight in September according to this [Only registered and activated users can see links]

I like Macca, he is still a solid top 10 Cruiser IMO but Cunningham is number 1 now that Haye has moved up, and was #2 before Haye moved up, imo.

No1 ?? Based on what....because he holds a belt ?
That big Turko - german beltholder who beat ding dong would beat him easily as would the likes of Hide.
Cuntingham brings nothing to the ring, Macca would beat him easily over 12.

not only has Enzo lost his world title - he lost all that comes with it
bad times for Enzo - but other fighters have been there - like Nigel Benn - suffered personal problems and bad defeats to come back and be a champ again
it will be a test of Enzo's character to see if he can come back to be a force again - I really dont know because he might be damaged psycoligcally after Haye smashed him in - and now people dont believe in him anymore
this video is not meant to rub it in - Enzo lost - but you can't blame him for being confident before the fight as every fighter has to psyche themselves up for a big fight

so do you agree or disagree - that Enzo was either no1 or no2 in the world BEFORE the David Haye fight
so do you agree or disagree - that Enzo was either no1 or no2 in the world BEFORE the David Haye fight
it depends which way you look at it, both were blowing guys away in 1 round or more in the lead up to the clash between them, so does this merit the 1 and 2 tag?
haye was defo #1 after mormeck he set the division on fire
macca battled back with braithwaite but a dodgy stoppage against azzoui
so defo haye for the 1 spot, not so sure enzo was close behind though

Yep, that was my take on the situation.
Alexeev and Adamek beat him. Probably Cunningham. I wouldn't even fancy him to see off Mormeck for 6 rounds until he gasses. So no. Top 5 maybe.

below is a interview with Enzo soon after he showed himself in public after the David Haye loss
he makes some intresting points in this interview look out for
#He made a mistake - he never admits HAYE is better - (I believe Haye was flattered by this fight too)
#He will never make the mistake again
#He will reclaim his place at the top of the world - (so he considered himself NO 1 before)
#Wayne Braithwaite punches as hard as David Haye according to BIG MAC
#A few things went wrong the week of the fight - otherwise it might have been a different story
#No Fear of Hayemaker - Enzo would fight him again on a weeks notice
Haye is being hyped up over the Enzo win - but Enzo didnt perform - it could be a different story if they met again
am I the only one who would love to see them meet again?

Haye V Enzo 11 - lets get it on!
For what reason?
Haye, despite what Mac said, is head and shoulders above him talent wise and a rematch would most likely just be a rerun of the first fight. Mac and his poisonous dwarf of a trainer need to learn a bit of respect and give credit where credit is due.

Yeah I think Enzo is ok - quite big headed in proclaiming himself the best = but not as big headed as that posing tosspot Hayemaker.
I see him around Swansea now and again.
I was really exicited to see him in such a big fight as the Haye one - I seen him on the Monday morning of the week of the fight - I thought he was gonna do it - turned into a nightmare for him.
Saying that - I know another guy - I worked with - who trained up in Enzo's dad's gym in Swansea before he kind of knew Enzo but didn't like him because he thought he was big headed - he want Haye to win and was well pleased when Haye knocked him out.
I would like to see a rematch - based on Enzo having a big enough ego to say he would fight Haye again - so lets see what happens next time - I think if Enzo can get some shots off on Haye he could have him in trouble.
Enzo KO Haye.

Enzo repeats that he made a few "errors" on the week of the fight
and he wont make them again
so if Enzo cancelled these errors out
what would happen if he fought Haye then?
same result
or could Haye be in some trouble?

I'd liken a rematch to Calzaghe's rematch with Veit ie he'd do a bit better but ultimately still be knocked out.
I'm not sure. Veit was likely worthy of a rematch.
As the great CHJ once said, many pundits were dubbing Veit as the white Joe Louis. He desvered another chance to prove or disprove this theory.

There were quite some years between the two fights so who knows, maybe Enzo will be worthy of a rematch as well one day.

could well be - Veit was blown away in 1 but lasted until around the 6th or 7th in a rematch
alot of people are not intrested in a rematch
and on merit pheraps Enzo does not deserve one as things stand
but I would be very intrested to see if Enzo could do better in a rematch

maybe in cardiff with a few more big fights experience under his belt and more confidence more ready for it - Enzo could have a real go at Hayemaker
I don't think so. He just can't win that fight.
The only chance is if Haye comes back down to cruiser looking like a corpse and his legs snap they are so weak. He's way too big, quick and hard hitting. Enzo is never likely to land first, and thus his glass chin is always going to be exposed.
FLINT ISLAND
08-03-2008, 05:24 PM
will Enzo get knocked out again in the future like Haye was able too do
is there anybody out there that can expose Enzo's chin like Haye did?
No, nobody has the sort of x factor in terms of power and speed. It's the speed that kills.
Let's look at the candidates
Cunningham is not a puncher at all. He landed several million punches on the reckless Huck before stopping him on his feat in the last round
Adamek is a former LHW, and wasn't even a puncher there. He's also a standup boxer these days, who is content to fight behind a jab in a calculated fashion
Banks is slow, and obviously not that powerful. He couldn't knock out a guy that Haye/Gurov demolished in 2, and Wlodarcyk stopped too
Arslan has pillows as fists. Never really stopped anybody, and is a work-rate type fighter
Alexeev will stop him. But not at dramatically as Haye, he's more calculated and less brash.

Are Alexeev and Enzo ever likely to meet though?????
It depends. If Enzo actually tries for unification after winning the WBO he could fight Adamek/Cunningham for the IBF belt.
Enzo is ranked highly by the IBF so thats a possibility.
Alex is ranked top 15 by the IBF and WBC, and I suspect they'll take him the WBC route since its vacant and weak looking.
Down the line it is possible, depending on if Enzo comes through and Alex is as good as I think.
