Any light heavy with a pulse would be nice.
Unify the belts? How about actually winning ONE for a start?

You actually value the alphabet trinkets?
That's the problem with boxing today.

More than I value a magazine title that RJJ, Tarver, Johnson and now Hopkins have passed around like an old mans plaything, yeah.
The Ring belt is great in theory. But the fact that there is no pressure to fight anyone meaningful is as big, if not a bigger flaw than anything the alphabets have.
It's not impossible that Hopkins could fight RJJ in a year. Let's say he wins.
Then rematches Tarver another year later.
You've now got a 44 or 45 yr old man, fighting a 40 yr old, and The Ring will still blindly say that it is for the real LHW belt. Even though by then there would probably be a dozen guys at least that could beat either one of them.
The Ring belt in conjunction with an alphabet belt seems to usually work. Once the Ring belt is on its own, it's really a lottery IMO.

Calzaghe/Kessler winner makes the most sense by far... Im not so sure that Roy's win over him bothers him very much.

Once again a great post. :good
"The Ring Belt in conjunction with an alphabet belt": It shouldn't be the WBO title.
It must be a sanctioning body that forces the titleholder to face real mandatories (I know, Ray Austin was a mandatory, too.).
Who should he fight next?
- Calzaghe/Kessler or Dawson
Who will he fight next?
- RJJ, Johnson or Tarver

Tarver
Why would he fight Tarver again?

There aren't so many Americans without a pulse left. And RJJ is difficult to negotiate with.

Zsolt Erdei, Ring magazins #2 and another guy that maybe called the linear champion (because Virgil Hill was the #1 of the division for a long time, before he lost against Michalczewski)
Hopkins-Jones wont happen, Dawson has to fight Diaconu and he cant fight the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler before the next year.

How do you see him doing against Zsolt Erdei and Clinton Woods?

Erdei is overrated in Hungary/Germany and underrated in the rest of the world. It's really hard to say how good he really is because of his poor opponents. I think he can beat anyone except Dawson and RJJ (stylistic nightmare) in the division. But Erdei (or better: his promoter) isn't interested in stepping up. He will continue to fight the Murdochs and Santiagos until he retires.
Erdei - B-Hop 60:40 (Erdei is the one to blame, not B-Hop)
I don't think much of Woods.
Woods-Johnson IV is next.
Woods - B-Hop (30:70)

I think that a fight between RJ and Bernard will get made. If you check the LHW WBO rankings they have B-Hop and RJ ranked #1 and #2. I think there is probably going to be a title eliminator bout with the winner to face the champion Zsolt Erdei. And quite frankly, a win for Hopkins would cement his legacy even more, and a win for RJ would do the same. And this would b a box office hit, b/c despite how many people say they wont watch RJ or B-hop anymore. Every1 would be ordering this one. And evry1 would b happy financially from this fight ( HBO, Golden Boy, Bernard, and Roy) . I think this fight might happen IMO.

He wanted a HW title, but others are busy now.

I think Hopkins should either fight Calzaghe for 168 gold when Calzaghe dismantles the fuck out of Kessler (unless Calzaghe wants to fight at 175)
OR
He should try get a fight at HW.
The word is NEXT. Calzaghe is tight with Kessler and will not be able to fight untill next January/February.
Top guys at HW are busy, only Wlad is available ... that bad option for Hopkins.
Good options to be made in this year are: Taylor, Dawson, Jones, .... Toney maybe.
