I'm leaning towards Taylor to win this fight, although I wouldn't be shocked if Pavlik pulls out an upset.

I've seen Taylor enough to judge him on his past performances, but some questions about Pavilk for anyone who's followed his career....

1. How do you rate his jab?

2. Does he work the body?

3. Overall(from what I seen)he posessed decent speed;How do you rate it?

4. Defense

5. It's obvious the man has serious power in both hands, but does he mix it up with hooks, and how is his power off the hook?

EDIT:He's went the distance 3 times in his career - how is his stamina?

Kelly has it ALL. I'll explain more tomorrow...I gotta get to sleep!:tired

Hint:
He's ambitrexous & a natural left hander, but he fights orthodox. He's a GENIUS! His dominant hand is his left, which he use's to jab, uppercut & hook with & his percision & timing is uncanny. And his right hand is B E A U T I F U L!!!
I'll really be shocked if he doesn't school Taylor.

I dont think it would be an upset, Pavlik by UD.

I think he stops him. Taylor will be no different. He'll fade under the pressure & KP either puys him down or has him out on his feet.

Just over 2 months away...;)

Not only is Pavlik the better all around fighter, he hits harder. And Taylor, in case people aren't aware, doesn't seem to have the greatest whiskers.

Why do you think he's been fighting light-hitters coming up from the lower weights ever since Hopkins rocked him?

Pavlik's gonna show EXACTLY why.....no gift decisions THIS time! :-(

Pavlik has excellent stamina. Even in the "later" rounds that he has been in, he has lots of energy and his punch output and punching power are just as they are in the early rounds. He spends lots of time in training doing cardio.

Taylor Hasn't Really Fought A Big Middleweight. He's In Trouble. Pavlik Will Keep Him At A Distance At First Than Take Him Into Deep Water To See If He Can Really Bang. Than, Down He Goes. And The Crowd Goes Wild!

Taylor's jab will return in this fight and Pavlik will have a long night...Taylor is too smart to engage in a slugfest with Pavlik, and he has enough pop to keep Pavlik honest en route to a UD win...

"Too smart to engage in a slugfest with Pavlik". So you agree that if this does happen (a slugfest) Taylor will get KO'ed.

Good thinking, but Taylor won't have much to say or do in this matter, as Kelly will impose his will, implement his gameplan, dictate the action & become the NEW Middleweight Champion of the World!

And I feel that ALL the pressure will be on Jermain. He will be the one with sleepless nights leading up to this fight.

don't worry, he's got the weight excuse all planned out. And a guaranteed rematch at super middleweight

I don't care what wt they fight at, Taylor is not gonna beat Pavlik...he's a NATURAL in the ring.

I admire Pavlik for giving in to the somewhat unorthodox demands of Taylor and taking a real small % of the purse. Gotta respect that, it's obvious he's just in it for the fight, like a real boxer.

I'm really sick of the "if the money's right" attitude. That shit's for pussies.

I think that looking at Taylor's last 5 fights is a going to bring the wrong conclusions. Each and every one of those opponents has been very difficult but also very different than Pavlik. Hopkins, Winky, and Spinks fought with outstanding and tricky defenses. Pavlik will not have a complex defense. That's not a knock on him, but it's not his style. Taylor has looked bad because he has matched up poorly to the strengths of his opponents.

This is going to be a rough fight for Pavlik and I think that he will deserve to be an underdog. We haven't seen it in a long time, but Taylor has a disciplined and powerful jab. I think that he is a stupid fighter without a great ability to adapt in the ring, but I honestly don't think that will be a big deal because Pavlik is going to be coming forward and not trying to dazzle Taylor with a confusing defense.

I'd love for Pavlik to win. He's a hometown fighter that I've seen several times in Ohio, but it's important to be honest. Taylor's strengths actually match up well to Pavlik. It should be an excellent fight and the first one to not be boring for Taylor in quite a while.

Zakman, if there's one thing I've learned in my time on ESB- it's that if you call into question a fighter's chin, it's usually with damn good reason. :deal

I simply cannot believe they scheduled this fight on the last day of my vacation & for it to land in NJ is UNBELIEVABLE! I mean, if was gonna be in Vegas, OK. No way I'm going. But I had a real chance to see Pavlik win the Mid. Wt. title live, in person & its just not gonna happen.

Renting a car. From Y-town to atlantic city is a 6.5 hour drive. Ive driven there before so its not a big deal. They are running some flights out of akron airport as well as Youngstowns to atlantic city but as many people as I know are going its hard for everyone to book the ticket now because its filling up so fast. Its going to be alot easier to just rent a luxury van and head there.

It's closer to 8 hours from the west side of Cleveland for me. I live right by CLE so I might fly.

Well it will be a slugfest for sure. Ive seen Pavlik fight when he was a nobody and he fought with the will and determination to be the champion one day. Thats what he fights for and thats why I feel he will win. Im not bashing Taylor, they both have flaws, but boxing is also a game for the hungry and pavlik acts as if he hasnt eaten in years. He wants this fight and he wants to be champ. That to me is what sets pavlik apart from taylor. Pavliks Era has begun.
