i like steve bunce because he's a fan like us who's made it, i mean who wouldn't wonna get paid to talk about the sweet science. However i think he always needs someone alongside him who can set him straight when he starts to assume that everyone watching is a die hard boxing fan and starts ranting about anything and everything and silly stories about Azumah Nelson's pool. Buncie you've grown on me, but remember you're supposed to be educating the naked eye casual fans and promoting this great sport.

It would. I don't have Santana so I wouldn't have to listen to his rubbish. I swear that Glen McCrory has his hand up Nelsons arse working him.

Buncey is just a very passionate sports fan who gets immersed in the hype. We are all the same.

Its split up into 3 parts under these titles, Froch on Inkin defeat, Mikey Rourke on Pacquiao-Hatton and Three rounds with the Spirit. Only watched the Froch bit so far, will check out the other ones out later.

Nooo, I hate it when pundits dumb down sports and talk like the audience are children. Football is the absolute worst.
Well said, its awful. That is one advantage of following a more niche sport - you are less likely to get the presenters and pundits patronise you and assume you're watching to see Jamie Redknapp in a tight pair of trousers.
Pet hate: 'He'll be disapointed with that'. No - what you mean is 'that was rubbish'.

spencer fearon would 100% not do this. like buncey he wouldnt back away from saying what he really think. unlike sky, setanta lets its pundits out the shackles.
the passion of ALL the presneters on setanta boxing, for me, is what sets it apart from other channels....sure the guys can go off topic at times, but hell, sometimes it reminds me of me and my mates chatting ...which has gotta be a good thing.....i wouldnt want these programmes dumbed down in any way. they are entertaining, factual and passionate....wehter ya like buncey or not, he is certainkly a dyed in the wool fan first and foremost, and that shines through, as does his insider knowledge....hell, even my mrs likes bunceys boxing hour!!

Buncey does his bit well.
I do laugh when they put those wooden anchormen with him the odd time.
One is a bit like Ron Bergundy - "Stay sexy san diego ! "

I love Buncey and his style. It's just a shame that he's on Setanta whose coverage is awful. They don't employ their own comentators for the fights in the US unless it involes a British guy which means we end up with the international feed which is awful. (For example, there were Cotto and Margarito involved in one of the most exciting fights of the year and the commentators were describing the action like it was Test Match Special)
SKY start the US shows at 2am which means we get a decent bit of the Undercard while Setanta start at 3 am and only give us the main event and 1 other normally. Even then when they showed Timothy Bradley vs Edner Cherry we missed around 2 minutes of the 1st round. That would never be allowed to happen on the more professional SKY.
What about the Enzo vs Haye fight. The show went on for around 4 hours, maybe nearer 4 1/2, and I think we had around an hour and 15 minutes of boxing if my memory serves me right.
Don't get me wrong, SKY have annoyed me, Amir Khan on PPV comes to mind from their recent history and their fascination with the WBU which has, thankfully, ended. However their coverage is professional and slick. All Setanta do is buy up sports to make people subscribe to them and give no thought to how to present them. Amatuer at best, disgraceful at worse.

I'd rather have an amateur-present a Cotto v Marg fight...
..than a slick, but sack 'o shit Sky-present Khan PPV.
(unless my old mucker Breidis is involved).
The content, not the packaging is what counts for me.

I agree about the content but surely if somethings worth doing it's worth doing well?

The main reason I like Bunce is because he isn't afraid of ruffling feathers by asking difficult questions.
His presenting style isn't particularly smooth ala Dave Clark, but there is very little bullshit - which I like, the complete opposite of Sky - and the analysts actually analyse, rather than read from a pre-prepared script.
The Hatton vs Malignaggi fight is a classic Sky promotion. You can't seriously tell me that Darke, Watt, Piper, Nelson and McCrory all felt Hatton would win, 'just'?
Surely someone fancied an upset or a Hatton ass whipping?

Bunce tells it as it is and isnt afraid to mention other tv channels.Imagine if a sky presenter started talking about setanta.
I dont mind paying for Setanta at all, they have good coverage of boxing at world level and i feel they are making a genuine effort to show as much as they can.
Sky are a disgrace, they show Friday fight night almost every week but will sometimes alternate it between sports 1 and sports 2,this is to make sure you pay for thier entire sports(cricket/football)package.Anything above a British title fight is a ppv event for sky.
The way sky devalued the sport in the 90s and treated its subscribers like fools should not be forgoten.I remember a night when 2 world title fights were on in vegas and sky had a boxing show on sports 1,it was the mid 90s and sky showed about 4 fights from the york hall bethnall green and then Spanish football all night.I rang and complained and they put the phone down.
I wish Setanta and Bunce all the best if they get a boxing channel up and running i will gladly pay a subscribtion fee.
