I'm losing the little respect I had for Amin.. this opponent is a BUM.
Asikainen should just stop fighting, he's a fraud.

Abalos lost 6 of his last 10 fights.

Stay busy opponent, nothing more...
Sylvester fought 3-28-0 Rykala in a stay busy fight. Gevor fought 4-6-0 Rodriguez. Asikainen fights 18-10-2 Abalo that has never been knocked out. A mere tune-up for the Gevor fight. OK.

Asikainen fights this year "Yori" Boy Campas, then Abalos and then Khoren Gevor. I am satisfied with those opponents.
Claudio Ariel Abanos is just a tune-up-opponent and a decent one in my opinnion. His losses are to opponents with pretty good records and he has lost pretty close decisions to Noe Gonzalez Alcoba (96-94),who lost 116-112 to Sturm, and to Javier Alberto Mamani (68-66 and 96-94), who is not a bad fighter. Abalos is no world-beater, but he has given some decent fighters tough fights. + He has never ever been stopped. So, I see him as a decent tune-up fight for Asikainen. Of course Asikainen will dominate, he is far better fighter than Gonzalez or Mamani, but this is just a tune-up fight. If Asikainen would like to fight easy fight he would not take on Khoren gevor later this year.

Wll, this is one real opponent. Campas was already shot when DLH fought him a few years ago. I would expect a better quality of opposition from somebody who wants to fight for title.

Campas didn't look very shot against John Duddy nor lately vs. Terra-Garcia...

It's only a tune-up to a fight just over a month away, Asikainen is going to be fighting Gevor so there's no reason(as most have said) to go crazy over this .
As overmatched tune-ups go this actually doesn't seem like that bad a one .

the only things Campas has still going for him are his will, chin and determination.
Campas is way better than most paper challengers...he is a real test, a determinated and furious fighter. Win over Campas in NEVER taken for free. Plus, he can still beat good fighters as he showed in his last fight. I donīt think more than half of the EBU ranked european middleweights would beat Campas...and not all world ranked middles either.

Well, i disagree. Imo every decent mw would beat him right now. A few years back this would be another story. But iīm looking forward to Asikainen against Ghevor.
Asikainen´s opponent for the Tampere boxing night, 30th of this month has changed. Now it´s a Brazilian southpaw with a 13-2 record. He has recently beaten his back-then-undefeated compatriot and another guy with 11-1 record. Should be a decent opponent. However, the style ad******g to southpaw opponent means that Amin will attack more with his great right cross out front. This means: knockout win for him. Maybe even early.

I hate seeing men kiss.
This is a stay busy fight but fans will soon get annoyed when all a fighter ever does is 'stay busy'.
Does meeting Khoren Gevor, who gave a real fight to Abraham, satisfy your needs of doing something else than just staying busy? If Amin beats Gevor, I believe he will finally get to fight for the world title.

Yeah, but with the exception of Sturm, who still will be the favourite, he canīt beat the champs.
btw. nice avatar, Hacker-Pschorr is one of the most important sponsors of my favourite football team :good
Asikainen knocked his opponent unconscious in round 2.

I think he will be placed against the relic Javier Castillejo
Yeah right! The word is that Universum and P3 have made an agreement and Asikainen vs. Gevor will most likely take place in Finland. But I do agree that once Amin has beaten Gevor, he should have a voluntary or mandatory defence, in which he sends Castillejo to retirement. Would make for a useful defence before the world titles.

Is Castillejo still in business? To me it looked that against Sylvester he didn't have much left after 4-5 rounds.

-> EBU Forthcoming Contests:
.....
7) Middleweight Vacant title:
Amin ASIKAINEN vs Khoren GEVORGYAN
Scheduled date: 24th October 2008 Helsinki
Promoter: P3 Boxing Oy
Castillejo was the co-challenger to the vacant EU title alongside his compatriot Ruben Diaz. But now Diaz is alone there, with the other challenger to be named. I guess Castillejo either wouldīve had a lousy payday or then just retired and stepped out...

Asikainen looked good! Of course Gevor is at different level than Oliveira de Jesus... and they have totally different kind of styles. But I have a strong belive that Asikainen will beat Gevor in Finland or Germany.
