This was a hell of a fight. I could've swore the fight was gonna be stopped on cuts. Katsidis was getting tagged. Somehow he kept winning rounds and won the fight. Even more bizzare, Katsidis was all busted up and Amonstat didn't have a scratch on him, yet Amonstat clearly lost and his career is probably over as a result of injuries sustained in the fight.

Katsidis v Amonstat
Katsidis v Earl
One man in two fights, each were hailed as fight of the year afterwards, what a fighter.

nope. i heard he's not done yet. the bleedign was outside the brain and was as non-dangerous as katsidis's black eye. just some under the skin bleeding.
i know the scorecards were quite far but i want a rematch between the two. maybe in 2 or 3 years. let amonsot mature as a fighter first. then he'll post a bigger threat to katsidis. the young filipino is just 21! he'll be a better fighter because of that loss

The problem I have with this fight was that there wasn't a whole lot of back and forth action. I had Darchinyian only winning one round when he got knocked out.

Marquez - Barrera was great even tho Barrera was robbed in the end

Agreed.
Marquez - MAB and Pavlik - Miranda as runner ups.
This of course also having "level of skill" involved in the Fight of the Year equation.

Miranda-Pavlik was exciting for as long as it lasted.

i don't agree ... fight of the year credits goes to both boxers ... it will not become one without the equally excellent performance of the other boxer ...
Oh yes both should get credit but more on Kats because he kept coming in for more exchanges. Kats fighting style made it more exciting. I've seen Amonsot fight at least twice before this and he is an average fighter in terms of action and bringing in excitement.

amonsat lost because of one glaring fucking thing he did over and over. and that was drop the left when he jabbed, or pulled it back. if he had just keep the left where it needed to be he wouldn't have been countered NEARLY as much and wouldn't have been dropped early

Miranda-Pavlik was exciting for as long as it lasted. I agree. In retrospect it was a bit onesided but upon first glance it was a very exciting fight.

The best fight I have watched this year was Pavlik/Miranda. There were some bombs thrown in that fight. I havent seen all of the fights listed in this thread, but this is my choice from what I have seen.

Accurate analysis. It was exciting, but it was a perfect example of how to get in there & waste no time to start dismantling your opponent. Miranda tried to make it a fight, but he never stood a chance.
Pavlik dominated his butt.:bbb

Vasquez/Marquez.. I mean....shit..that was skilled power punching boxing..not know slop bucket club fight like Miranda Pavlik..Miranda fought like a complete idiot...and deserved to get KO'd by the super slow Pavlik..who hit him with the same punch over and over..In Vasquez/Marquez you seen everything...pure offensive TALENTED fighters..GO Marquez..my boy..p4p best offense in boxing..I dont care....thats just my opinion

Pavlik-Miranda was fun to watch; but that fight was a demolition, not realy fight of the year material
