  :D
Funny question I know... But would a boxer be allowed to box without his boots, or is that mandatory?

Jimmy Thunder
<-
did it once in a fight I watched. He said he was slipping too much, and fought barefoot.
Unfortunately, it was in an outside arena in the hot sun, and he burnt the shit out of his feet...
(Just one of the reasons I love Jimmy thunder!!!)
Memory tells me it was against Akinwande, but I'm not 100% on that...

So its not illegal?
If a fighter wished to go barefoot that be within the rules?
Or was that en exception?

I have no idea whether it's within the rules or not, I just know he did it once!!!

An Australian middlweight Darren Obah once did this also.
If I recall correctly, he complained about the ring being too slippery when his boots were on.

you know this uber oversight never ceases to amaze me. after 100 years of boxing you'd think the sport would perfect the ring material or the shoes. but still to this day fighters are put in potentially dangerous situtations when they start ice skating across the ring.
i've never seen a ko from slipping but it's only a matter of time before i witness one! considering the risk they take in the ring it's the honourable thing for the establishment to fix the fucken problem.
my dad is a house painter, and he says it's all bullshit. there are plenty of cheap solutions which can safely reduce/eliminate slipping. why it hasn't been done is beyond me

Its dangerous, immagine someone step on your foot accidently or not during the fight, you will lose balance and speed for some time and can easily get knocked out.

There was a World Championship fight where both fought bare foot, because of heav rain and a slippery ring
Carruthers/Songkitrat if memory serves me right.
