He dont take long breaks the way we look at it the faster he gets it done the faster he gets to go home the less pain he will feel when doing so, I tell him to do them in sets of 100 I will be moving him up to 1000 from here on out, no more than 1000 crunches.
I stress to him the importance of this because body shots are no joke and you dont have anything down there to protect you your ribs are like fingers they break easily, so the more he does his floor work in the gym the stronger he will be when he fights.

wow. that's A LOT lol...i think doin about 100 push-ups a day is good real talk. that's as long as ur doing other exercises. if push-ups and crunches r all u do...then ya, 500 n 1,000 still sounds like a lot, but it makes sense

500 pushups and 1000 crunches in a day. Is that even possible or better yet is that even healthy to do? I mean doing this every day will kill you're body.

medicineball shots and sparring full on body will do more for taking body shots than doing a million reps on the abs...

it is possible.

agree completely. Taking some hard body shots is what made me start doing more crunches every day.

Yes it is possible and yes it is healthy you do not start out doing that, when you first hit the gym you should start out around 300 sit ups a day depending on how your conditioning is comming in, the fighters that I do have started out low and have moved up 100 every week since its healthy, pros do it all the time but they are pros, my opinions are that you must push the limits pro or amateur if you want to have success you must push yourself.

Bazooka,

Full situps vs crunches. Which do you recommend and why? I always see recommendations from some focusing on proper situps and others focusing on crunches only. Just wondering why the different train of thoughts?

much appreciated!

I say crunches simply because they work the muscles harder, you get better results when you are doing crunches IMO, though my opinion isnt what works for everybody different trainers have different thoughts, one thing we all agree on though is that the floor work must be intense, you must push yourself to the limit becuase your body is not designed to get hit, so you condition your body not only to throw shots and fight or to go the distance but you also condition your body to take shots along the way.
I say Crunches work the best, especially when you do that last one hundred with the medicine ball.

Thanks Bazooka, appreciate all your input on there. You should consider doing a Q/A sticky. I think we (all but hypnotiq) could learn a lot. :)

Dont get me wrong I dont mind helping or giving advice, but remember as a trainer I am still new to this I have only been teaching for three years, However I teach everything I have learned from the sport from each trainer I have had since I was six years old.
Everybody has different opinions and methods of training and fighting, mine isnt better than anybody else's However I have had the luxery of being able to learn from Roach at Wildcard and few other trainers there everything they tought me has stuck with me and I have carried it with me since.
However that isnt the only style to train or fight there are other gyms that are less intense but just as effective, my thoughts are you take everything you have learned put it all in one pot and mix it together allow it to simmer and you have something to work with.

Yes --- thats very good.
Still --- dont leave out situps.
Especially on days with no sparring or no medicine ball.
