It probably does help with flexibility, but there are non lame/gay ways to increasing flexibility than this Americanized fake ass yoga..

Stretching in the morning, for 20mins or so, is the most important. Im 215 i can put both legs behind me neck. You don't need yoga.

Its good for building static strength in weird positions, it certainly can't hurt.

My big beef with, "yoga classes." Is that, "yoga" is a practice of Hinduism not limited to the stretching and flexibility..

Supposed to help you attain the, "no self" by helping you detatch from your body and sort of transcend, without getting too far into it..

Sure, it helps to focus, but you don't need a fake ass, "Yogi" who doesn't know shit about, "Yoga" to teach you how to focus or how to stretch.

Focus on the stretching taught at your academy.. If you wish, take a yoga class if being around people motivates you and that is all that is available. But once you start hearing your very anglo, granola bar gobbling, "Yogi" with his degree from Humbolt California talk about Chakra.. Do yourself a favor and armbar his ass, then tell him to shut the fuck up.

Nice, he practices asanas. Thats not really yoga. :patsch

All I'm really saying is, its fucking pretentious. The stretches, postures, focus practice is all great, but its only an aspect of what Yoga really is. Those aspects are usefull, but a lot of times you get these teachers talking a bunch of shit they know nothing about..

What is meditation really? Just focusing as far as us non Hindi are concerned, deeper levels of focus are great. But to start using lingo that we really don't know jack about is just salesmanship for something we may consider cool, or exotic..

Really, some teachers are fucking silly.. Like wearing a yamaka around every day, and not knowing what a synagogue, or the Torah is..

Actually yoga is pretty good. It's quite tough. And you are surrounded by lots of chicks in spandex, bending over in front of you. How is that gay?

Well yes, the spiritual aspect is a bunch of hooey. The versions refined down to exercise routines are much preferable.

I can't toe my toes...by about six inches. Does that make me a failure?

I wouldn't cast out a blanket statement that Yoga is useless. Nothing is useless if someone feels that it works to their benefit.

For example, if some guy thinks wrapping a towel around his neck and standing on his roof helps him get ready for fights - then I'm all for it. It's really up to each individual to determine what helps them - physically and psychologically. Trying something like Yoga or ballet as a supplement to one's formal training isn't necessarily a bad idea. It's all subjective and thinking outside of the box is good for any living, creative individual.

Its not Yoga. Its asana's marketed as Yoga, because to our little western minds, it's mysterious and exotic.

Asanas, simply the stretching, poses and planks. Any retard can focus and meditate.

Its pretentious is all I'm saying. My yamaka example works fine for what I'm trying to explain. Just like in martial arts there is a whole lot of bullshit in particular styles that work for fuck all, while certain aspects of those styles are extremely effective.. In MMA we use what is practical, and now proven to work via trials and tribulations.

You wouldn't show someone how to do an armbar, and then call them a Gracie desciple, would you?

The short answer would be "no". I am not versed in Yoga so your meaning escaped me a bit - but this explanation helps.

Grassy ass!
