Interesting little read on Joe Calzaghe's chances of being a promoter.

Haye is the only british boxer that will do anything as a promoter. The day that Calzaghe or Hatton put on a show not involving them selves is when we can judge them.

Haye is already putting one on, the 20th, has a british title fight as its main event, he has 11 boxers signed up and a TV deal. What do Hatton and Calzaghe have?

Haye is also far more intelligent and business savvy that Calzaghe and Hatton.

Who does Haye have on his books then? Sounds like he is another threat to taking over ****** in the future.

Ricky Hatton has a secret weapon in the promotion setup....Ray Hatton.

JC just has his dad and that dodgy football agent.

I think JC will make a good promoter, in an understated way. I doubt he will try to rip off the fans, and will no doubt match his troops hard like he did in his career.

Doubt that, Haye needs to focus on his boxing career.

He hasn't shown any Intellect and business, he's just acted like he wishes he was Hugh Hefner and talk shit about the HW's.

So signed a TV Deal, 11 boxers, signing a deal with the biggest promoter in the world, making over a million in the last year means you have no business intellect.

haye also has a huge property portfolio.

Was probably Booth that did that all for him, they see how much publicity Haye's getting and of course those 11 guys would sign with him.

Business sense Is hardly needed to sign with De La Hoya when he shows you the contract, only him and the big suits benefit from Golden Balls promotions anyway. A solicitor will check the contract for you and tell you how good the deal Is so he doesn't need much there either.

Haye's taken a heavy gamble and will look bad If he doesn't back up that mouth. He should be focusing on his career more than his fame and mouth, he's only been pro for 5 years and he thinks he's DLH already.

As for Calzaghe, he's too relaxed to be a good promoter. Hatton's Dad does most of his business decisions too.

I can not see JC having the brains to do it.

I think Hatton has made more friends along the way than either Calzaghe or Haye though. More guys would be likely to be willing to put their fighters on his shows and vice versa.

From what I understand Dennis Hobson and Frank Maloney don't have a bad word to say about him - better to start from the bottom up at area level rather than doing what Audley did and sell WBF matches as title fights.

To be fair I could see all of them failing and all of them succeeding, I suppose proof will be in the pudding I suppose.

Much as I love Calzaghe the fighter as a man he has had a charisma bypass, so I would see Haye or Hatton being a more successful media savvy promoter.

Haye has balls and does not b/s like the hattons, he wants big fight and as a promoter I do not think he would be content to deliver the b/s that the hattons will be promoting e.g. lazcano, maligfaggot etc etc, all shitty fights with the hattons trying to fool the public into thinking the opponents are truly exceptional. They can stick such title fights up their arses, I rather watch British title fights from Haye than b/s so called world title fights form the hattons.

I can't see Calzaghe as a promoter at all.

He just doesn't have the charisma or the personality full stop. He could make a good match maker but I couldn't see him as the front man.

I could see his father doing it tho he certainly has the charisma!

Calzaghe is entitled to take his shot at being a promoter or relase his own aftershave or release his own clothes line or music label - or whatever money making business he wants

but he should have waited until he retired and seen out his career with ******

another point is if Calzaghe promotions get up and running are all Enzo Calzaghes stable going to desert Sports Network to sign with Calzaghe promotions?

I would have thought so, I'm sure Enzo Mac would be first in line.

If so this would have a significant loss to sports network and a big bridge burnt between the Calzaghes and ******

interesting times ahead

it seems Calzaghe does not just want to fade out of the game when he hangs up his gloves

pehraps part of the plan was always to fuck ****** off at the end of the road and then launch himself as his business rival

So why isnt every other boxer in his position??? How would haye be able to get Frank ******..............thats Frank ****** to put one of his top 5 fighters, that has a dodgy chin, in with a guy with a 95% KO record, that most of the british public has not even heard off, in his home town, and get paid £1million for it. and Haye doesnt have business sense.

Haye and Booth our a team.
