Even though you hate Hopkins you have always been the best member of this board. Can you at least be neutral towards Bernard because he was the only one to knock Oscar out and along with Trinidad, was the only one to make him cry and scream "fuck!" over and over after a match? Or can you at least admit that you hate Hopkins more for destroying Tito than being a golden boy groupie?

The Mayweather-De La hoya "fight" they both performed like they didn't want to really fight.
What a joke of a fight.
It was an intriguing sparring session for a few rounds, but I was pissed off they didn't get going in the latter half.
Some of the guys here at ESB were delighted watching Mayweather's "mastery" of landing pitty-pat jabs on Oscar's gloves. :-(
And De La Hoya was even more pathetic.
I hope both these faggots never fight again. Really. Bloody multi-millionaire pretty-boys. These guys stopped being fighters a long time ago.
Mayweather-De La Hoya is like a duet between J.LO and 50 cent. Something for the girls to buy. Pathetic.
115-113 De La Hoya is the wrong score though.
I thought Mayweather edged it, but I'm no expert on ballroom dancing so I wont argue.

This is probably the way the judges saw the fight which is why you got the scores you got.
Floyd fought like a bitch and Oscar though he fought good in spots they were only in spots I thought Oscar won it close fight though could have gone either way, one thing is for sure Floyd did not Take the title it was given to him.

Oscar's problem was his inactivity in the last few rounds. Really quite pathetic. It was a slow paced fight and he still slowed up too much. Floyd wasn't doing much, and Oscar chose to do less in the last few rounds.
I thought it was possibly a draw 114-114, but I thought Floyd probably edged one or two of the close later rounds. I wont argue with 115-113 De La Hoya because the fight was so uneventful but I was expecting the close Mayweather win or the draw because of Oscar's lackluste effort in the last few rounds.
It was interesting to watch live but you really have to feel cheated by guys who are paid so much and obvious dont want to put it all on the line. These guys dont want to fight really, they want slow-paced tactical sparring with plenty of frills and glitter.
No one gets hurt, everyone gets rich.

I've been watching boxing for over 20 years and I've gotta say the Mayweather-De La Hoya was absolute shit. "They fought defensively" .... no, they hardly fought at all. A jab is supposed to land solid in the opponent's face, not brush his gloves or caress his nose. I guess that's been forgotten.
Of course, for a few rounds you can excuse them playing a waiting game, trying to draw leads and counter, but for the major part of almost every round for ther full 12 rounds ? These guys showed absolutely no hunger.
It's the truth. They fought like fuckin' cream puffs. You can excuse them on styles if you want, but anyone who's seen a few fights can tell they weren't doing the business in there. They weren't putting in a effort you should expect from allegedly great fighters. They walked out the ring as pretty as they went in, they landed a few shoe-shine taps in each round - very few real punches - and got paid a ridiculous amount to do so.
It made Hagler-Leonard look like a war, and that fight struck me as being tame 20 years ago.

34 year old DLH man. Atleast Oscar pressed the action trying to make it a fight. Prime Oscar would've beaten Mayweather easily
Anyway, 34 year old Oscar being the only one to win a scorecard vs Floyd shows you Floyd ain't fought enough great fighters
Wrong it shows you why Floyd refuses to fight guys his own age:good

Yeah, I know ODLH was old. That might explain his lacklustre effort. In fact, he did better than I thought he would, and Floyd did worse. But I felt Oscar gave up in the later rounds. He ran out of ideas and just didn't show the desire. It was kind of pitiful. OK, maybe it was age, and yes, I agree, he tried to make it a fight for a while.
The thing is, Mayweather didn't deliver but I still think he edged the fight. That's because neither guy did much at all, all night.

Floyd practically shut Oscar out -fullstop- Oscars wife gave 9 rounds to Floyd -fullstop- You could have scored every round to Floyd if Oscar hadn't gotten away with the holding -fullstop-

"Fuck Tom Kaczmarek"....If I run into his blind ass in Vegas, I will tell him that, an inch in front of his nose, loud enough for the whole crowd to hear it.
And you can quote me on that. :good
