Just read on fightnews.com that along with hatton/mayweather and
Cotto/Mosely being practically done deals. Tarver/Dawson is being arranged as well. If that's the case then. Looks like Tarver will be out of the mix!

Why would Tarver be out of the mix when he's fighting a fellow top 5 lt heavy?
This is a 50/50 fight and I'm as big a Chad Dawson fan as there is, since 2000.

If this was Tarver 2002-2004....different fighter. His workrate is low now and his reflexes are not what they were. He doesn't seem to want it as much as he once did.

As always, good point my good man.
The fact that Tarver's reflexes have declined dramatically over the last 2 yrs. is very important.
The same goes for his workrate.
Chad is confident and very smooth.
Dawson wins 8-4 or 9-3.

young Bad Chad is too fast and too good for Tarver.

I don't think it's a 50/50 fight my friend. This version of tarver may not even finish w/ dawson. So, hence him being out of the mix after the fight. Not before. And yes, kingdan I know your chads biggest fan on this board.

Dawson will beat him
Tarver should avoid Dawson.
he needs to take that risk at this point...Hopkins beat him up, and who else is there for him? Dawson is younger and better, but his chin is definitely his weak point and Tarver still has power...
and ANOTHER big fight. Excellent. go dawson

This bout should solidify Dawson as the Top Dog at 175.
Excluding, Hopkins, of course, whom I consider more of a rogue warrior.

Tarver doesn't have the workrate to stand any chance of taking a decision. His only shot is to get a KO, which I think is a realistic possibility. Still, I say 80/20 fight in favor of Bad Chad.
In fact, I think Dawson stops Tarver late. Antonio looked ready to go against both Hopkins and to a lesser extent Jones (III), but neither of those guys could or would push for it.
Dawson also would win a wide decision over Hopkins.

Tarver will lose. He's declined. He's slower, reflexes arent as good. it will be good for a few rounds but Dawson will beat him badly.

Doesn't Dawson have a mandatory first? I think Diaconu's his mandatory after beating Hoye.
Might be wrong though?
