15 rounds at middleweight.
These two appear to be very similar...in stature and tactics. Both are quick on their feet and forcing exchanges by cutting off the ring. Walker is the better combination puncher, with a more refined modern approach, while (pure speculation on my part) Darcy appears that he might be stronger and harder hitter. (He was a large middleweight)
What do you think of this fight? It would have to be a great one. Opinions please.

It would certainly be a great one.
I go with walker as the more proven but it is not a confident pick.

I hear you...Walker is the more proven. But Darcy's potential was scary. He looks very strong, I'm not making a pick yet, I need to find out more on Darcy, and watch some film. But he just might be capable of backing Walker up...Darcy looks like a force at middleweight (but Walker can fight that way...see the Ace Hudkins fight)

A puzzling question, as Darcy may well have become a more polished fighter in America. Having his last fight at the age of 20, the techniques on offer and unlimited sparring would have been something beneficial for the young Darcy.
Mickey Walker was as tough as nails. Watching the battering he recieves from Schmeling is a frightful example of his courage.
As Walker was the former Welterweight and Middleweight Champ, moving on to fight 15 rounds for the Lightheavy title, plus Sharkey to a draw and Schmeling after being disposed as Heavyweight Champ, Darcy would have had his hands full.
I would like to imagine a few years in the States would have greatly rounded Darcy. Given his abilities, at a tender age, the Walker/Darcy fight would have been a battle with any possible outcome. Seemingly, neither man could be hurt. I would be unAustralian if I didnt pick in favour of Darcy, K.O 12.
Darcy vs Carpentier and Walker vs Carpentier would have been interesting also.

What a dream matchup, Two of the hardest and most brilliant boxers to ever grace the ring, Walker is more well known today ( outside of Australia of course) but Darcy was more famous in the old days, I just read on the net that the great Gene Tunney told D'Arcy Niland that in his opinion, Les Darcy was a Nonpareil of his time, and old Gene knew a thing or two about greatness. Les was never stopped, had an awesome chin ( a bit like Waker ) and ditto his strengh and punch power, in his fight films, particularly against Clabby and McGoorty they seem desperate to clinch him but Darcy smacks them with uppercuts and hard body shots almost without effort and in the open his speed seems great. Walker did pretty well against the big blokes but les destroyed heavyweights, it'd be a war, in war anything could happen but I think Les at 1916 level may pull off a 15 to 18 rd K.O....we'll never know.

G, lest U forget. Mickey Walker, all 5ft7"took on heavyweights Jack Sharkey ,15 rd draw/tough Johnny Risko W10/King Levinsky W10/ Bullish
Paolino Uzcudun W10,giant Bearcat Wright,40 pounds heavier, W10,and
Max Schmeling,in Max's prime. And Walker even beat light heavy Paul Berlenbach, a powerful puncher. So Les Darcy potentially, might have been "another" Toy Bulldog, but at 20 years old, fate intervened !
