Apparently he's considering an offer from Goldenboy which could see him make his debut in Vegas in November on the Hatton-Mallignaggi undercard.

I think he will be a full welter eventually, but a LW when he turns pro. He walks around at 71 kg apparently. Good boxer , i think he will go a long way

good height for a welter. thanx.for a lightwieght thats a very good hieght. but you got to remember the kid is still growing...i just called a guy whos a year younger than me a kid:patsch
i think he should stick to lightwieght for 2 fights or so (like trinidad did) then when he cant make wieght easily just go up in wieght until he doesnt feel the pinch of draining.

Me neither.... olympic botch aside he's every bit as good as Khan i've heard.

Only that he's much less suited to the pros imo and won't achieve that much as a professional.

Khan would still eat him for breakfast. GBP must be desperate for a UK boxer to sign up with them 100%.

They are desperate to crack the European market, as there is a lot of untapped talent being held hostage by idiotic promoters such as ******, Palle and Hennessy.

Young prospects need to be matched against each other, not kept at a distance.

Not seen enough of Gavin to see whether he can crack the pro game, suppose the proof will be in the pudding.

Are GBP really that desperate to crack the UK??

Haven't they got plenty of good Mexicans?

Also, what is the extent of this offer? Is it to get him to go with GBP long term, or to get him closer to Hatton?

I just hope his long term development is looked after if he goes pro.

I think they are pretty keen, and with boxers seeming keener to have a US style relationship with promoters than the traditional master and servant one, I see them having success.

There will always be room for the likes of Frank ******, who can control the fighters that know they aren't all that cracking (Lockett is an example) and the fighter is happy to do as he is told in return for a few quid and tickets to good shows.

Maybe. Fighters from the UK (well successful ones anyway) end up with a huge following and they are usually prepared to travel long distances the watch their man. GBP must have made a fortune promoting Hatton for the Floyd fight and I think Oscar can only imagne how much he would have made had he been promoting Hatton from the start.

Either way, it will be nice to see fighters/prospects from these shores actually taking on decent opponents and then the true champions will be filtered through all the ****** fodder :D

I totally agree.

I would have much more respect for a guy who retired at say 35-6 having fought across the world and challenged for titles and been prepared to vacate in order to take stiffer challenges, rather than a guy who is 30-1 having fought nobodies and hidden behind a title whilst ducking pretty much everyone.

The GBP way is pretty tough, the winners reach the stars whilst the losers get left behind - the way it should be in sport. They are not perfect, far from it actually with all this recycling of fighters, but certainly a damn sight better for boxing than the likes of ******.

Worst thing Khan did was to sign for ******. I couldn't believe it when I heard it.

In hindsight it was probably the best thing, because other promoters would have insisted he took on the leading contenders at domestic level, instead of shamelessly ducking them :deal
