Accomplished as much as Sal did in such a short peroid of time?
His entire career lasted seven years, and 46 fights.
Yet look at what he accomplished and how he's remembered today.
Rocky Marciano only fought for eight years, 49 fights, and was the heavyweight champion of the world.
Sung Kil Moon's career consisted of five years and 22 fights, almost every one of them a title fight. Left a major impression on the sport in that short time.

Jeff Chandler only fought for eight years, but he made just as big an impact as any bantam in the last few decades.

I think Pacho Villa might even beat out Sanchez here. Dead at the age of 24 with two wins over Jimmy Wilde, with 109 fights in only 6 years.

In the period from '76 to '82 when Ray Leonard retired, he had beaten Duran, Hearns, and Benitez, as well as Kalule and Ranzanny.
Two-time Welterweight champion and Jr.Middleweight champion.
All in 6 years and 30+ fights.
Leonard's career of course went on longer, but he accomplished more in that one segment of his career than any one I know of has accomplished in 6 years.

Stanley Ketchel beat Billy Papke twice, Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, fought a ND with Sam Langford, put Jack Johnson on the canvas, and made 11 defenses of the middleweight crown all before he was murdered at age 23 or 24.

Harry Greb and Maxie Rosenbloom are #1's and #2 in my book. Sanchez did a lot, but was very hot and cold with his performances.

Pancho Villa. 109 fights in 6 and a half years. That's an average of a fight every 3 weeks. One of the best flyweights ever, and would be more recognised if his career was longer. Wins over Jimmy Wilde, Battling Murray and Kid Williams amongst others, and the first Filipino world champion. Nuff said.

Why didn't Salvador have a rematch with Juan Escobar to avenge that near-loss?

My thoughts.
