I was reading an article on this (soory, wasn't on the internet but will try and look later), but unfortunately it wasn't in a huge amount of detail. It had some helpful ideas in it though. I'm interested in peoples opinions and also if you know of any:

1) Baking Soda - 1 tsp before a speed based activity
2) Honey - Helps recovery
3) chocolate milk - after a workout, apparently it has the perfect C:P proportion. I always knew this but never believed it and I could do with saving a bit of money on the protein shakes!
4) Chinese cordyceps mushroom - I can't remember what this does
5) Cherry juice - improves endurance if drunk during a workout
6) 2 coffees before a workout - completely forgotten what this is supposed to do

Any ideas/opinions/more information? :thumbsup

Dude unless your a dietitian or willing to consult a dietitian and work consistently with that diet just ignore most of what you read and maintain a healthy diet with a correct balance of minerals crabs proteins etc. You can get any of this in your diet by eating healthily. Diet is vital but whats your training regime?

Yeah agreed. A good recovery meal is a honey/jam and peanut butter sandwhich on brown bread

I'd say (6) would be because caffeine is a stimulant it can help people exercise longer. I know a study was done a few years ago where it improved performance in a high intensity cycling test. The International Olympic Committee have caffeine as a banned substance.
