Boxing promoter, Craig Christian made a brief appearance in court this morning. (abc)

The Perth Magistrate's Court has been told that boxing promoter Craig Christian will be pleading not guilty to firearms and drugs charges.

Mr Christian made a brief appearance this morning following his arrest last week at Perth Airport as he was boarding a flight to Sydney.

It is alleged a semi-automatic pistol and a magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition were found in his luggage.

It is further alleged a quantity of methylamphetamine was also found.

Mr Christian was released on bail to appear in court again next month.
