Walcott actually showed that he could do fairly well against a shorter swarmer in his first fight with Marciano. Joe was arguably past his best when he did it too. Therefore I think he'd have a great chance at giving Frazier a good match, perhaps even beating him. I do feel however, that Smoke should still be the favorite. Although Walcott troubled a great swarmer, he never actually defeated one, and Frazier was a terror. He had off the charts body movement for a heavyweight, along with very fast hands, and a well developed left hook. He was relentless in his attacks on boxer types, and had great stamina.

I pick Joe Frazier to win in a very competitive match..

I pick Frazier by a close but clear UD. Walcott may have given Marciano hell but Frazier is just a diffferent swarmer. Frazier offers relentless pressure and never stops until the final bell.

I feel that very few boxers without a devastating punch would win against Frazier (possibly none outside of Ali). I can't see Walcott keeping Frazier off him for the entirity of the fight. He did great against Marciano, but great as the rock was he didn't bring quite the same pressure to the table. Frazier wins by KO somewhere in round 8-12.

I'll go with Frazier. Walcott ran too much, and IMO would have a hard time earning a points win vs a busier fighter. Frazier via late round TKO would be my pick

Good poiints Suzie on why i think Marciano was a better fighter than Frazier. I personally pick Frazier in this one though

I see a very tough fight for Frazier here, Frazier applied pressure but Walcott had great ring smarts and would catch Frazier coming in...Frazier was the better finisher of the 2 but Walcott hit with pinpoint power and hit much harder than Ali, Frazier may have to get off the floor or could walk into a well timed Walcott punch but Frazier was the better finisher.....I would not be suprised to see JJW pull it out with a stop or a UD but Frazier even though he had a shorter prime was more consistant of the 2 .......Frazier edges out SD or late tko but Walcott from the Charles KO or the 1st Marciano fight Stops Smokin Joe

I very much doubt that, at least when Ali sat down on his punches, as he did in Manilla and FOTC.

The thing is frazier was very good against Classic Master Boxer textbook types, but walcott was different. he had a unorthodox cutie slickster style that was trouble to ANY style...walcott was so hard to figure out. Actually the toughest type of style for a guy like walcott are Classic Textbook boxers because they do everything by the book and dont follow into walcotts traps. the swarmers/sluggers all get bedazzled by walcotts antics, and the defensive counterpunchers get outfought by walcott.
