This guy is going to be the next big thing at 185, he has incredible takedowns, athletic and strong, great ground control, and slick submissions, specializing in some of the best leglocks in MMA. Pretty similar to teammate Paulo Filho in some ways, a little more aggressive though.

Dan Henderson has a very serious challenge coming up, I'm a little torn because I've always been a huge fan of Hendo, but in the past year or so I have been incredibly impressed by Toquinho, I don't really want either of them to lose.

Definietly a beast. Hendo might be a bit of a nightmare for him, alas; a guy he'll struggle to take down and can KO him. The winner of this fight is the only real hope of defeating AS right now.

What I really like about Palhares is he's a pure Jiu Jitsu guy who has the explosiveness and power and control to take most down and keep 'em down. Damien Meir for example is a better Jitsu player but wont go as far becasue he lacks those things markedly.

Perhaps Maia lacks those few abilities, but i feel that he could seriously improve his stand-up game and become a more well-rounded fighter, especially since he will be learning from one of the best in Wanderlei Silva. He could make up for those physical short-comings by having more ways to finish the fight, on the feet or on the ground.

And as for Palhares, he is seems to be the real deal. However i feel throwing him in against a veteran like Hendo in his second UFC fight is a bit harsh. It will be a great leraning experience for Toquinho and will be even better for him if he wins.

But i'm taking Hendo UD.....

I don't think Palhares would mind that. I expect to see Hendo 'sprawl & brawl'.

I dont expect Hendo to get caught with anything even if he gets into this guys guard..Hendo has faced the best out there..Sure he got choked by Silva thats partly due to the punishment he was taking on his feet with him.

All these Brazilian JJ guys with a nickname are a dime a dozen now...they are all supposed higher lever JJ players..yet no one seems to be able to win any major belts..because truth be told..once they face a guy like GSP...they will get raped.

Lets exclude Big Nog coz hes proven himself for years..years

Toquinho is the real deal. This is what a jiujitsu fighter should look like. His takedowns are strong. His transitions are smooth. His submissions are TIGHT. His speed, strength and overall technique will give him the upper hand against Henderson. I see a Toquinho sub by anklelock. This kid goes for the legs like a shark. toquinho reminds me of the classic jiujitsu fighters - aggressive and ruthless.

That's Wanderlai who is a Lute Livre fighter under Chute Boxe - not jiujitsu. You should have said Hendo vs Renzo Gracie because he knocked Renzo out cold. Dan Henderson is one of the all time greats of MMA but he has been around a long time but time waits for no man as the saying goes.

This kid Toquinho is peaking. Henderson is starting to decline. Dan is still a great fighter and a threat to anyone in the ring - but this kid seems to have the right set of tools to take Henderson out.

Sort of a big step up for that guy to be fighting Hendo I would think.

renzo is one of the best gracies out there..A genuine nice guy. funny as hell. He gives credit to where credit is due.. Hes not bitter unlike the Helio clan...Best teacher as well as hes produced top MMA fighters.

I agree. I got to go to one of his seminars in the late 90's and it was a fantastic experience. Renzo is an amazing teacher - informative, funny and humble all at the same time. One day of training with Renzo gave me an entirely different persepctive on jiujitsu.

I'm with you all the way on this one.

Henderson is great, and is a big challenge for Palhares. I've been looking forward to this fight since I heard it announced. I want to see this more than any other fight on the card. I'm picking Palhares by sub in round 3.

Dan fought a very smart fight. I thought this would be Palhares' coming out party, but Henderson is still Silva's top contender.

Im impressed by Palhares BJJ agian everytime the fight was on the ground im started shaking because he was so close to pulling something off. However im also impressed with Hendo for once he actually put together a true gameplan and followed it perfectly. To many boos in this fight I found it enjoyable a high class chess match you knew one mistake by Palhares of the feet could have his head taken off but if Dan over commited he could be taken down and the same goes for the ground.

There's no shame in losing to a great fighter like Dan Henderson. Palhares will learn from this loss and come back stronger.

Still very impressed, made Dan change his strategy and become much more conservative, great job gameplanning by Hendo. Toquinho is still the next big thing, especially against non Olympic wrestlers.

Henderson was the worst possible matchup for Palhares. LOL.

I do like Palhares though. But fighting a wrestler as good as Henderson is the last thing i'd want to face if I had Palhares particular skillset.
