View Full Version : How much ya'll really lift?

Not that I really give a fuck.
Anyway, when I was at Al Dhafra AFB we had a weight lifting competition.
I tipped the scales at 160 at the time.
I put up 385 squat. 445 deadlift. 250 bench.
Now, I came in second place for PFP strength and 4th overall. There were a lot of muscleheads competing.
Anyway, the only guy that beat me PFP was a guy that was a former running back for the AF Academy.
I suppose I could have done more on my squat and deadlift, but I only got three chances and I took the "safe" route.
And that's real.
So how much do ya'll lift, cuz I'm skeptical that some of ya'll are puttin up as much as you say you do because of the circumstances I was in and the fact that so many people lifted weights.
So lets hear this shit. Oh yeah, and how much ya'll weigh?

Not a lot. I haven't focused on weights in a few weeks now, after I have this tournaments this week I'll get back to lifting though and see how I do. I guess on bench I could max at maybe 170-180; I'm 6'4 and around 160.

At that tall though, I bet you got some leverage on those straight punches.
I bet people don't expect you to hit as hard as you do.

Smart man. :) You're pretty much exactly right. Those same long arms and my build make huge numbers on the bench hard for me. I can do a decent amount of push ups, and I can do respectable weight for my size on the bench press, but no way am I banging out 200+.

Nope, that's true. I'm going to start doing it when I have the time soon just because I need to gai nweight and put on a few pounds of muscle to get back up to where I need t obe.

Post a pic, younghippo.
Me, I'm fairly naturally strong, haven't done many weight at all. Can squat 220, Deadlift over that, Bench press about 170, row the same. 160 lbs, can lose a couple though, am out of shape.

I'm 5'8 155# I don't lift on any sort of regular basis, but I max out occasionally when I'm at the Y to swim, 200 bench, 250 squat, I feel like I could squat more, but I've had trouble with my knees before... and that shit sucks

I weigh 76-78kg but am reasonably weak I think,
I'll squat 120kg X6
Bench 45kg dumbells X6
I'm pretty strong when it comes to pullups though, I can get 15 with a ten kilo weight strapped to my stomach.
Bicep curls are okay too, I'll get 6 reps on 27.5kg.
Shoulder press 35kg X6
(BTW, these are pretty much my personal bests I'm talking about here)
I was into the bodybuilding prior to getting into boxing, so my physique looks somewhat powerful but ultimately isn't ;)

Never really practiced the squat or bench but can one arm shoulder press 27kg and do a single chin up with 37.5kg at 65kg bodyweight, I'm about 6ft tall so that doesn't really help. Not deadlifted for years but my old max was 112.5kg, mainly use kettlebells these days.

You suck, Rakim.
If the Squat is no.1 exercise, deadlift is no.2.

Now I know what it is, I don't really understand why it's so highly rated :huh The squat works so many more areas than a deadlift would. Surely if you've got a really strong lower back you'll be extremely good at deadlift, whereas with bench-press or squats, you have to be strong in various areas. Please correct me, I'm new to all of this.

Deadlifts are just as big at hitting lots of muscles as a squat is.
Squat is the best, big compound exercise, deadlift is probably the second most efficient.
Some good shit.
Basically any workout program should have: Squat, deadlift, bp, row, dip, pullup.
Anything else is a bonus. You use all crazy shit with big weight, you big strong. Savvy? (Asterix.)

I might add a few sets of deadlift to my gym sessions then. :think I don't do dips or pull-ups, I'm not strong enough to do them very well at the moment.
Bench: 130lbs
Dumbell Curl: 30lbs
Machine Military Press: Bodyweight
Machine Hammer Curl: 80 lbs
Lat raise Machine: 65 lbs
Lat Pull Down: 120lbs
Butterfly: 160lbs
Leg Extensions: 120lbs
Some of these are the most I can do and some are the most i've tried. Can't remember what I squat but it was poor.

Bench:100-105 kg

Deadlift x 1 not sure, last time at least 315, never really tried max
Squat x 1 at least 285
Bench currently 245, did 285 a few years ago when I lifted hard
Im 5'10 168.... My upper body is pretty strong, legs are thin, so my squat and dead lift numbers need work. Keep up the hard work fellas..

how much do you weigh? None of the exercises you listed there matter. They're all either machines or isolation exercises.

I don't lift much, the most I've done is taken a weight training class in school, which was very basic.
At the time, I was 135 and I could bench 155. Not really impressive, but benching is not my strong point. And my disability with my leg hinders my squats and whatnot else well.
I can do around 20 pullups though. :deal :rofl

wat disibility u got?
When I was 6 I got two staph infections in my left hip. Few years and 6 surgeries later, my left leg is about 2 inches shorter and the ball joint in essentially non-existent. My body started to build it's own, but of course it's nothing like the original. I don't have full range of motion, and the lack of use over the years has caused the leg to significantly smaller. I can still do most things, but if I overdo it, there are consequences. Some things I can't do, like sit Indian style. :D
I need to see if I can get a hold of an x-ray, it's really quite fascinating.

No need to. Anything that serves any importance I am able to do. The only time it pisses me off is when it is straining from too much activity. For instance, played ball for a few hours and I could barely walk the next day.
Other than that, :thumbsup

Well a little over a month ago when I was weight lifting more:
270 squat X8,X7,X5(3 sets)
210 bench X9, X8, X6
never did deadlifts, and never maxed out cause I didnt have a partner to make sure I didnt kill myself. lol
6ft 3in, 195 lbs at the time. I was about 13% bodyfat at the time and am now down to 184 from running, dieting, and boxing workouts. So I would imagine I have dropped some weight from the above numbers since ive been very sparsley off and on weightlifting since. I would guess that im already down to about 9% bodyfat right now though and looking much better. 9 pounds to go!

6 foot
195ish pounds
Bench 225 never tried more
Never tried to max out a squat
Don't know what a deadlift is.
I'm a pretty naturally strong I almost never work out and my strength is pretty much from sports.
Man I'm such a lazy bastard looking at it. My teams always have weight training days and I just chill the fuck out in the sauna, if I get motivated I could prolly put up some big numbers.
