View Full Version : Predict the p4p list 5 YEARS from now

What will it look like in 2013? Many of today's top dogs will be gone.

here's my prediction

1. Chad Dawson - looks a real class act in the ring. Future top dog.

2.Miguel Cotto - should still be going strong after establishing himself over the likes of Hatton and Margarito.

3. Jermain Taylor - totally underrated and unpopular for some reason. No way would a protected 'fraud' go 36 with Hopkins and Winky and AT LEAST hold his own, as a still green fighter.

4. Charlie Zelenoff - plenty sparring footage of him going around, he's been criticised for being too upright, too cocky and lack of head movement but he can fix that. Ramrod jab, intimidating persona and sickening power in that right hand is the equaliser and should carry him to titles and riches.

5. Paul Williams - awkward and rangy, he'll be a more polished version of today's Williams.

more to follow....numbers 6 to 10......

Would the rest of that list struggle with Cory Spinks?

Pac and Marquez will be done in 5 years, if they last that long, no way Pac with his style makes it another 5 years.. I give him 3 tops as a top guy... same with Marquez.

I think Berto has a chance to be up there, same with Lamont Peterson. Edwin Valero and Linares as well.

Williams won't be top 10 in 5 years I don't think -fullstop- I believe he'll have to move up in weight and when he does he loses a fair amount of his biggest advantage -fullstop-

I'm trying to figure longevity. I don't know how long Pac can last, but I couldn't think of many young prospects I could think of being up there. Maybe Cotto could be top 5.

Wladdy should still be around. He is only what 32 or so now?

Ideally we should have a legit unified heavy champ by then and that will likely be Wlad.

Dawson may be over Kessler - but I guess that he will have to face him in order to do so. Kessler has the more interesting fights in the next three years or so - if he beats JC. :bbb

1. Bernard Hopkins - Bernard will still be a champ at 48 beating anyone possible.
2. Charlie "Sweet Pea" Zelenoff - Obviously with an undefeated recond (0-0-0) will get him into the top 5 P4P.
3. Miguel Cotto
4. Wlad Klitschko
5. Kelly Pavlik

Out of the young 140 pounders I'd pick Malinaggi, Holt, or maybe Harris for this list long before the Nepocutioner. I'll be stunned if D-Hops ever cracks top 15 P4P.

I take it no one sees Andre Ward doing much five years from now?

Dawson is a good pick, he's got all the tools. As with any slick boxer, a rough, crude fighter could always bang him out though, you never know.

1. bad chad
2. lunares(kid got skills)/holt(he will beat witter or harris and continue to win)
3. cotto(he wont be undefeated though but will give the boxing fans the best fights the next few years.)
4. paulie(call me crazy but I got him sticking around)
5. the guy haye(only if he stays at cruiser)

1. Miguel Cotto - Ruling Welterweight with an iron fist. And still undefeated...

2 Chad Dawson - Rules 175. But nobody really stands at 175 to threaten him.

3 Celestino Caballero - King of the lower weight fighters. Will hold a victory over Rafael Marquez. With his size he will even clean out the Featherweight division.

4 Juan Diaz - Will hold a big victory over Manny Pacman in a FOTY candidate.

5 Manny Pacman - Losses close but legit fight to Diaz after clearing out 130

6 Bernard Hopkins - At age 47 still going strong.

7 Juan Manuel Lopez - KO artist at Featherweight

8 Andre Ward - Undefeated title holder at 160. Will remind mofos of a prime Roy Jones JR.

9 Paulie Malignaggi - Will own the 140 lb. division for years to come. Will be nicknamed 'The Italian Whitaker' for a reason :yep

10 Ivan Calderon - Will continue to put on clinics on HBO PPV undercards until his 40s.

cotto ya, williams and taylor, possibly. taylor i think might lose to Pavlik (Pavlik is from where i'm at so i kinda have to root for him) but Taylor really hasn't been impressing me w/ his past fights. he's gonna have to step it up to beat pavlik. williams has a good chance. i can remember some faces and fights but can't remember the names of young up and comers. if i remember i'll post back

who are these guys at 1, 2 and 5 Kolya? I just don't follow boxing close enough to know about them....or this Linares guy people are talking about. Is that the Filipino guy?

I would put Kessler in the lower reaches of the top 10, Diaz too...he looks really solid. Probably one of these numerous Filipino guys will be up there...Bautista perhaps. I'll stick with my top 5 though.

in 5 years.

Rings top ten p4p list

1. Miguel Cotto (#1 at 147)

2. Chad Dawson (#1 at 175)

3. Juan Diaz (#1 at 140)

4. Jermain Taylor (#1 at 168

5. Mikkel Kessler (#2 at 175)

6. Kermit Cintron (#1 at 154)

7. Jorge Linares (#1 at 130)

8. Michael Katsidis (#1 at 135)

9. Ruslan Chagaev (#1 at HW)

10. Paul Williams (# 1 at 160)

i think PBF and Hatton will both be retired so thats what it will look like.

I would pick guys like Juan Diaz, Cotto, Dawson, Ward and Paul Williams. Will be very interesting to see who can keep winning. Pavlik is overrated and will be exposed. He has many technical flaws. Everyone here (myself included) gets in trouble over rating fighters because of their exciting style. Pavlik will be the next Lacy. A very good fighter who can be beaten well by a top level fighter with a good gameplan.

after he beats Mosley he will have a field day at 147 for the next 5 years i believe.

Cotto,Diaz,Dawson are the 3 best names for the future of our sport.

Hi mate!!
Pac has no plan B, we've seen that when Maruez boxed his head off.
When speed workrate and agression doesnt work, he's very beatable.

So far, he's pretty much overwhelmed everyone, but if he's human, his physical capactities, and his desire to train as he does, are going to wane, and so I think he will have slipped on the p4p lists by then.
