i was thinking the IBOF standards are not that great for inductee i was thinking since ESB has the best Forum with some of the most Knowledgable fans around. we should start an ESB HOF for the fighters that truely deserve it based on there credentials that way we can truely show them how far apart they are from the pack they are.:good
how about it what you guy's think?

I Mean We REALLY NEED THIS For That Alone. Unless We Already Do . If We Do Get One I Think Criteria Should Be Very Strick No Gatii Or Vargas
OR GREAT TV FIGHTERS THAT HAVE NO TALENT SOR COULD OF BEENS

Not a bad idea. However, how would we nominate inductees? Everybody has got a favourite, and the posters on here are certainly not always without bias. Which criteria should we use?
tays001
07-28-2007, 07:18 PM
well let start with this the fighter has to have been retired at least 5 years
tays001
07-28-2007, 07:19 PM
we can't induct every fighter that has ever one a belt cuz we no that would be tainted
TAM83

You should set a limit of inductions for a certain period of time, otherwise it'll be a free for all

YES!
Limits are a good idea. Additionally, I recommend an MMA sub-hall, which the MMA forum will be glad to fill.
So....how are we going to go about this? Is anyone interested in making a website or a subsection of ESB? What sort of standards will we be using? How many inductees will we limit it to the first time around?
tays001
07-28-2007, 07:23 PM
i say we get a pannel of 7 forum poster which have had to been on the forum for at least 1 year and who's oppinion respected and is able to judge a fight with out predjudice. each month one of the 7 post a thread of who should be inducted and from that thread they take the 10 most crediable boxers and post a poll then the 7 evealuate the poll and decide. if you have a better way please share or add

Start with people nominating one person from each weight division, then start a poll for the nominations.

when do we start? I mean, there are some obvious legends out there, but many of us on here are too young to have ever seen those fighters. Can we induct those guys just based on their legend?
tays001

i say a limit of 5 per month .

Great idea! I think you also need to be very explicit vis-a-vis admission standards.
Namely, do you account for the below:
1) Career Resume (obviously)
2) Impact (this could mean impact outside the ring, or someone who revolutionized something)
3) Popularity (this is the Gatti argument)
4) Character (i would assume not, or else a lot of greats will be excluded)
I would start with a rapid-fire system to create a foundation of guys, then maybe vote on up to five candidates once per year. Make it very formal.
But maybe your idea for five a month is a good start.

I'd definitely start in the Classic forum with this process. Crosstrainer obviously would be a fine addition, and there are others (although some of the knowledgeable posters are crazy) hanging around as well.

I say potential candidates for the first wave of ESB HOF...
Radar, Lance Uppercut, Cross Trainer, Zivic, Widdow Makker, Achilles, Kirk, Orishaman, Amsterdam, & Freddy that would be my initial class of ESB HOF's...

To be honest I reckon you have to be more public with it, if not then it's basically just seven guys making their own HOF. For it to be an ESB HOF it has to be picked by all of the members. TBH most people have a good knowledge on this site, so I'm sure it would work well.

The BHOF covers the boxers!!! If anything we should have a posters HOF and the credentials should be agreed upon by the 'majority'.
I'm all for it and while I'm not the best? I'm certainly willing to POST WITH THE BEST and may one day be so honored!!!!:D

I agree more with a posters HOF than a boxers HOF, though I agree with both.
Posters HoF though would have to have like any other HoF a majority vote and the initial class would have to include a standard bearer. (In this case Cross Trainer)

I believe that the initial class should be of fighters from over a 2 decades ago and have only the limitation that they get more than 50% of a vote. Certain guys are in without thought......SRR, Armstrong, Pep, Saddler, etc.

FOR BOTH
Go for it.
You need to figure out how we are going to decide the original class for both.
I think we should do it by weight class.
And for the posters, I think it should be done based on a thread where we ask people to add names to the ballot, then the 10 most names get voted on, then the 5 highest vote totals get in.

I'll help you figure it out. The problem is that things about posters tend to get moved to the lounge. Each part of this forum has different posters who post there frequently, kinda screwing with the votes for the General Forum....

Normally if you ask in the original post for it not to get moved, they are pretty good at leaving it be. Remember my post about the anti-american bs....I asked and they left it be.
I am definately down for this..........................:good
