So even tho Herman Ngoudjo won an IBF title eliminator against Bailey which was suppose to garantee him a title shot 90 days after the N'dou-Malignaggi fight.

The IBF decided to let Malignaggi make one optional title defense against Salita in the fall before he has to fight Ngoudjo.

Apparently the IBF has a rule that says a new champion can make one optionnal title defense before he has to fight his mandatory challenger.

Okay, fine. Now what happens if Salita wins? Will he also be allowed to make an optionnal title defense before he has to fight Ngoudjo? The IBF rules says he will.

What if he loses? Will this shit go on and on until the end of time?

This is bullshit. Paul Malignaggi was N'dou optionnal title defense. He lost. That's the end of it.

he didnt beat castillo....it was a close fight, but no controversy.....

I see your point about the rules. What if there is a new champion then a guy in line for a shot may be shit out of luck for a long time. That is BS.

Don't know that it's any better in the WBC, Kelly Pavlik has won 2 eliminators in a row and still hears he'll only get his shot with Taylor if the money is right.

The castillo fight was no controversy. Also if Ngodou wore his protector where it belongs instead of up to his nipples, we may not be having this conversation as Castillo would have actually had a body to punch

I think Paulie will outbox Ngoudjo, much like he did N'dou and Edner Cherry.

If you go to youtube you can find Ngoudjo vs Emannuel Agustus round 12. Ngoudjo was knocked down and totally out , the bell saved him from being stopped. I was shocked to find that, anyone else see that ?

That's just according to team Taylor. :yep

WBC can always go to a purse bid to push through a mandatory fight and if Taylor refuse . . . WBC can strip him of the title.

Salita - Malignaggi might be a good time to catch up on some sleep. I don't even think Salita is top 18-20 world class. Must be time for his promoter to cash in.

Le promoteur de boxe new-yorkais Don King a bien étouffé cette rumeur du report possible de l'affrontement Alcine-Simms, hier matin.

Depuis une semaine, certains sites Internet de boxe laissaient planer la rumeur du report ou de l'annulation du combat, alléguant que les autorités de l'aréna Harbour Yard de Bridgeport n'étaient même pas au courant qu'un match de championnat du monde allait être disputé chez eux le 7 juillet.

Hier matin, King a déclaré que les billets d'entrée étaient bel et bien en vente chez Ticket Master ainsi qu'à la billetterie de l'aréna Harbour Yard.

«Le combat Alcine-Simms sera présenté à la date et l'endroit convenus, soit le 7 juillet à l'aréna Habour Yard, a déclaré King hier matin. D'ailleurs, la vente des places est déjà en marche.»

Les dirigeants de la WBA et du réseau de télé Showtime ont également confirmé la nouvelle.

Rappelons que Joachim Alcine (28-0-0), un Lavallois, tentera de détrôner le gaucher Travis Simms (25-0-0) à titre de champion mondial des poids super mimoyens (154 livres) de la WBA.

Simms vit à Norwalk, au Connecticut, à quelques kilomètres de Bridgeport. Il avait conquis la ceinture le 6 janvier à Miami, en battant le New-Yorkais Jose Antonio Rivera par K.-O. technique.

Défense optionnelle autorisée

Les dirigeants du comité de championnat de l'IBF ont fait savoir qu'ils autoriseront l'Américain Paul Malignaggi (23-1-0) à réaliser une défense optionnelle de sa ceinture, si celui-ci en fait la demande.

Lorsque l'IBF couronne un nouveau champion, elle lui permet de procéder à une défense optionnelle de son titre mondial, avant de l'obliger à réaliser une défense obligatoire.

Samedi soir au casino Mohigan Sun, au Connecticut, Malignaggi a détrôné le Sud- Africain Lovemore N'Dou (48-6-1) à titre de champion du monde des poids super-légers (140 livres) de l'IBF.

Le Montréalais Hermann Ngoudjo (16-1-0) sera assurément impliqué dans la prochaine défense obligatoire de cette ceinture, puisque le 8 juin, au stade Uniprix du parc Jarry, il a battu aux points l'Américain Randall Bailey (35-6-0) dans le cadre d'un match éliminatoire décisif.

Si Malignaggi choisi la défense optionnelle, il pourra faire patienter Ngoudjo jusqu'à la mi-décembre.

Proposition de Di Bella

Hier après-midi, le New-Yorkais Lou Di Bella, l'ex-président du réseau HBO (il dirige maintenant sa propre écurie de boxeurs), a soumis une proposition au groupe GYM.

Malignaggi est associé au groupe Di Bella.

«Lou Di Bella m'a contacté pour savoir si nous serions intéressés à impliquer Ngoudjo dans un gala de boxe qu'il présenterait aux États-Unis à la fin de septembre, sinon au début d'octobre, avoue Yvon Michel, le chef des opérations au sein du groupe GYM. Ce soir-là, Malignaggi procéderait à une défense optionnelle de son titre, face à l'Ukrainien Dimitry Salita (27-0-1), tandis que Hermann affronterait N'Dou.»

«Nous ne fermons pas la porte à cette idée, mais ce sera impensable si Hermann n'est pas payé à sa juste valeur. Attendons de voir.»

Pascal et Stevenson en action

Le groupe GYM dévoilera demain midi le contenu de son prochain gala de boxe local, prévu pour le 3 août.

Chose certaine, le champion nordaméricain unifié des poids super-moyens (168 livres), le Lavallois Jean Pascal (17-0-0), sera impliqué dans le combat principal de l'événement.
