I don't know what to make of this fight, having just watched it.
Single bodyshot drops Saman the first time.
He's dropped again by a few more shots to the body.
Then with a few seconds left in the first he's knocked half over with a combination of punches to the head. Fight's stopped.
I don't know whether to take it as Saman simply haven fallen that far since his reign of terror defending his WBC belt after his FOTY with Humberto Gonzalez or if maybe it was a dive.
Komeda, supposedly is "one of the most popular boxers in the world based on TV ratings. His fights draw over 50% of Japanese homes."
The Saman fight was Koki's 7th, and his first actual opponent outside of complete bums. It took place in Tokyo, and the general look at it was that Saman was complacent and really didn't give a shit. Not the Saman I knew.
And in recent fights against better competition Koki's shown almost NO power.
In a six fight string recently he managed one late fight stoppage... And Saman's definitely world class. Or was.
