I thought they had come to there senses and called this off. Pity someone must have taken a blow to the head and now it is back on. Plenty of better fights for both of them out there. yes it will be a big money spinner but one i dont think i will be too much in a hurry to see

Every boxing fan in the world will be supporting Pacman in this fight even though he probably has no chance. Oscar is losing a lot of respect by picking a fight with little Manny.

At the end of the day, Oscar isn't going to have a hard fight as his swansong, it's his farewell party and he wants to go out with a W for sure. He has got the biggest name that should provide the least danger to him because of the size. This isn't about the golden boys legacy - that was cemented years ago, it's a business decision pure and simple

Oscar could've been so much more than he was in my opinion. It's a shame. If he was more active of late I'd pick him against Margarito and most others floating about.

Jeez you're harsh Ippy! A gold medallist, 6 weight world champ whose record reads like who's who? Give the man a break would you? LOL

Don't get me wrong Phil, he's a great fighter. I just don't think he fulfilled his true potential as a pro. Personally I don't think he's really a 6 weight world champ. Yeah he won a few WBO straps from memory. Good luck to him. I don't think those fighters (Bredahl was the 1st from memory) were recognised as the upper echelon of the division.
Would loved to have seen him fight Tszyu at 140lbs. That was a fight that was being touted for a long time. Unfortunately it never got made.
Would loved to have seen returns with Tito and Quartey, even Sweet Pea. Hey, don't get me wrong. He's a great Welter, I just think that between 97 to 02 he could've been greater than what he turned out to be. Mandatories with Patrice Charpentier, Derrell Coley etc don't help.

Blame the WBC for the mandatories Matt not Oscar! I do see your point though it is well made. ODLH V Tszyu how good would that have been?

Yeah I'm a ODH fan. I thought the Vargas fight was a ripper
Couldn't cop that sweetpea though. I seen a few of his fights. to much of a defensive fighter.
When he fought that Riviera guy he bludged & got a crooked decision.
Fuck sweetpea.

Yeah Rodin I think if you look at most fighters records there would be a contentious decision in there somewhere or other. Personally I thought ODLH was lucky to get the nod against Whittaker although you are also right in that Sweetpea was an acquired taste style-wise and though he may have been lucky to get the nod against Riviera he was damned unlucky in his first fight with Jose Luis Ramierez and also the draw against Chavez. It's a pretty average part of our sport some of these decisions and I wish they were gone forever but I guess I am trying to say more often than not if a fighter gets a "gift" somewhere he has been on the receiving end. No excuse for it though

Pac-man is runnin away from Juan Diaz, Guzman. Jmm and Soto and Valero. Hopefully he comes to his senses and fight these warriors soon. Cuz all of his opp are oldies. I reckon he's a good fighter overrated and is from ganoy area in P.I. where they have some good lil fighters. Fast and can hit for lil fellas. Buh Pacman needs to fight his weight not go up. I would rather see a fight with Hatton instead of this joke...

What a perfect time to give up a strap then? Universally recognised as a great fighter at the time. He didn't need the WBC, it was the other way around IMO. Trilogies with Quartey and Tito, a return with the Pea (Whitaker won IMO, but it was close) would have pushed him up further than where he is now. I do admire him as a great fighter. I just think he could've been greater.

Ippy your last post was spot on. Could not agree more! I mean I would have liked Oscar to have gone out in a different way but we can't always get what we want!

As Pac is probably my favourite fighter right now I really want to see him bag this.
Apparently he is to retire in 2009. I think thats a good idea but there are so many more fights Id like see him in before he goes out.

Some good posts here. I've been a fan of oscars for years but I agree he should of rematched quartey, tito, whittaker & sturm. I think he beat quartey & tito but lost to whittaker & sturm. It goes to show how great tszyu was at 140 with both oscar & mosley going around him. Picking pac for his last fight is purely to beat the NO1 p4p fighter at the moment. Win or lose he would of got a more respect from the haters if he took on margarito as his farewell fight. Like Phil said we can't always get what we want. But oscar has been one hellavu fighter throughout his career & his fight log speaks volumes.

I was a big Oscar fan, but he picked the wrong fight, so, go Pacman!!!
Oscar could've been so much more than he was in my opinion. It's a shame. If he was more active of late I'd pick him against Margarito and most others floating about.I totally agree, even though Oscar has done alot i reckon he could have done alot more with his talent.
At a glance this looks like a mismatch but we all could be very surprised at the end of the day
