hey,got a quick question
im a amatuer heavyweight, and im trying to increase my endurance, greatly. Is it true its not how long or fast u run,but how often u run.
If i run 15 or 10 minute runs twice a day, would that be considered quality roadwork.this is not the only form of endurance training i do.I jump rope also, and do rounds on the heavy, speed, and target bag.Keep in mind this running schedule does not include the running our coach makes us do at the gym, this is just on my own time.

...........Much better to do 20-30 minutes at once rather than break it up. With only ten minutes running, your heart just gets to the point where it has to start working hard, and then you stop. Not doing much good that way.
15 minutes is considered a warming up.

Wake up early and get 45 minutes in, if you are only doing 10 minutes your muscles are barely getting warm.

2 15 minute runs arent going to do very much for either your endurance or weight loss what ever you require.
However, it is proven that doing 2 half hour runs opposed to 1 1hr run in one day is more beneficial for weight loss as it keeps your metabolism high therfore you burn more fat. I prefer to just do one very long run usually between 45 mins and 1hr and half to get it over and done with, it is better to break it up though if you have the time. ;)

...........I'd need to see a source verifying this.
From an endurance standpoint, two shorter runs as opposed to one longer one is not the way to go.

No its not sorry I got carried away with the post a little, for fat loss it would be, endurance not.

I was taught to keep it simple. If you're an amateur, run for 30 minutes. If you're a professional fighting anywhere up to 12 rounds, run for 45 minutes. If you're a professional fighting at 15 rounds, run for 1 hour. It'll do the job as far as endurance is concerned and won't really cut into anything else that you're doing. Stamina is not the same thing as endurance though, so don't get them missed up :). You'll still need to train stamina with basic gym-work and sparring. I believe for endurance that 3 distance days (run, bike, swim) is the way to go for a fight. I would also train 3 days in between the distance days with track runs, sprints, or jump-rope intervals for speed and agility. This type of work really won't cut into your regular schedule or cause overtraining, so it's more of a discipline than anything else. You do these exercises in the morning and the rest of your shit at night. Hope this helps!

I think your training regime is too scripted
why skip 10 x 2 min rounds
I would just skip a full 20 minutes straight
but thats just me

You need to run a lot more. As an amateur 30 minutes per day should suffice; however, if you can extend it to an hour and vary the pace with short bursts of sprints while covering the distance, this well help your stamina and endurance greatly. Mix in some hill work as well.
