I couldnt say personally, i'll be interested to see some lists though. I normally credit Ketchel with being the hardest hitter here.

Pavlik is a accumulation type of puncher, Abraham has more power in todayīs division.

Pavlik rarely throws big shots, just those hard straights. I think he has more power than Abraham, but Abraham gets off more powershots (namely that brutal uppercut).

Well, Abraham throws not often anything else but powershots but thatīs due to his lazy style. Imo Abraham has more one-punch power while Pavlik makes up with the amount he throws.

I agree, Pavlik deserves to be called a hard puncher though, not that you're disputing that, just thought i'd put that in though.

Well, HBO says they have a date in 01/2009, Pavlik camp says they want Abraham after Hopkins, Abraham camp says they want Pavlik after Marquez. So, I think it will happen, they just have to go by their next opponents. Additionally those two guys are made for each other, Pavlik comes at you throwing punches while having a lackluster defence while Abraham wants you to come to him and counters - I think this fight is close to 50/50 but I slightly favour Abraham due to his better defence and chin and Iīm pretty sure there will be a KO but if it goes to the cards Pavlik wins.

I think this is a difficult question and I have played with this idea some.
MW is one of the toughest divisions for me to try to come to a conclusion about. I change my mind about this division a lot :(
Current list (might change next week)

Ketchel
Jackson

Interesting take I have Pavlik as a slight favorite to win. Abraham is a great fighter but Pavlik improves everytime out-hell I hate to see a loser of these two but it will be a great fight.

Jackson doesn't belong that high on a middleweight list. He was very obviously faaaar harder hitting at junior middle.
Similar to Mugabi moving up to middle against Hagler. Hagler's said multiple times Hart hit him hardest, harder than Hearn's or Mugabi.
Sure, P4P they might of had more power then Hart, but Hart was a legitmate middleweight.

Well, like I said if it goes to the cards itīs all Pavlik, possibly even by a landslide BUT with Abraham itīs a big chance that it wonīt. And Abraham has the better chin and defence, Pavlikīs defence has huge holes and his chin is average. Also Abrahamīs trainer always puts up a very good strategy which fits right to his opponents strength and weaknesses while Pavlik knows only one way to fight. Iīm really looking forward for it.

What about Rodrigo Valdez? The shot Valdez finished off Briscoe with in '74 rivals ANY power punch thrown by anyone, especially considering the recipient of the bomb was the anvil-chinned Bad Bennie.

Lloyd Marshall, I know a lot of his opponents spoke highly of his power and I believe Burley claimed he was the hardest hitter he faced.
Archie Moore during his early days fought at 160lbs and his number of knockouts speak for itself.
Joe Choynski weighted around 160lbs most of his career i personally feel he was the hardest hitter at this weight here are some quotes about his power:
Jack Johnson said "Jeffries had a solid wallop and Fitz[simmons] could knock your head off but that man Choynski could paralyze you even when he didn't catch you flush. In my opinion, he was the hardest hitter, pound for pound, of the last 50 years ... I think his left hook was much more effective than either Dempsey's or Louis's"
Jim Jeffries said "he hit me so hard he broke my nose and wedged my lip between my teeth. He drove my head so far back I thought my neck stretched a foot"

I like Choynski, Fitzsimmons, Julian Jackson, Benn, Abraham, Ketchel, Hart, Mclellan, Burley, Moore, and Valdez, in no particular order. Talk about splitting hairs, though- even the guys who didn't quite make the top 10 could still break teeth and rattle brains enough to make you cringe for their opposition.
edit: and apparently, I can't count because I forgot to put Ketchel on, so I'll just stick with 11

...and Hearns was an exceptional puncher -at WW, JMW, MW, and probably SMW.

If one is looking at puching power alone, without technique or other assets, the the Net might have to be widened ? not Great Fighters but if you left your chin on offer you might regret it with these guys
Florentino Fernandez
Ruben Hurricane Carter
Slammin Sammy Nesmith
Dangerous Don Lee
Gretian Tonna
William Caveman Lee

LHW as well as he dropped Andries five times and stopped him inside the distance. I don't think his power at SMW was much different than at LHW.

I always say Ketchel hit the hardest IMO (again being a biased fan) though I do believe Choynski hit just as hard if not harder it's just impossible to tell.
I just look how Ketchel applied that power with a KO% of 77% (54 wins 49 KO's) one of the very best in history.
