View Full Version : How did you predict the following fights

Be honest now fuckers. It irks the shit out of me when I see fights where the winner was a 6-1 underdog but 95% of fuckers say they saw it coming.
Hopkins vs Trinidad - I picked Tito. Up until that point it didn't apear to be a question as to if he would catch bhop but simply when. Shit up until about the 7th round I still thought Tito had a chance here.
Morales vs Raheem - I actually had Raheem in this one. I was so impressed with what I saw when he was robbed against Juarez that I knew his movment would give Morales hell
Calzage vs Lacy - I picked Lacy mainly because I didn't know Calzage had a performance like that in him.
Tyson vs Lewis - I think any rational person picked Lewis here. Only the die hard Tyson fans still thought he had a chance.
Hatton vs Tzyu - I picked Tzyu. Hatton had really been fed tomato cans up until that point and I thought that such a big step up would prove too much for him.

I picked Tito by KO, but only as I had seen almost nothing of BHop to that point.
I picked Morales by decision, as Id seen nothing of Raheem.
I picked Calzaghe by decision.
Eubank told me Joe was the best fighter he'd faced, and would hand Lacy a beating, so give Chris the credit for my insight.
I picked Tszyu by decision, and I think the middle rounds of the fight vindicated why I picked this.
I knew Tyson had 2 rounds to get Lewis out of there, and thought he would, but at the end of round 1, knew it was over.

Hopkins vs Trinidad - I picked Tito. Up until that point it didn't apear to be a question as to if he would catch bhop but simply when. Shit up until about the 7th round I still thought Tito had a chance here.
I picked Hopkins and knew he was too versatile for Tito.
In fact, around that same time, Tua squared off against Byrd, and I parlayed a bet picking Byrd (Tua was favored) and Hopkins (Tito was like a 4:1 favorite). I got screwed, though, because the Tito-Hops fight was pushed back from Sept 15 tyo Sept 29....and with the date change, I only received winnings on Byrd's victory over Tua!
That parlay would have paid nicely...
Morales vs Raheem - I actually had Raheem in this one. I was so impressed with what I saw when he was robbed against Juarez that I knew his movment would give Morales hell
I picked Morales, and was shocked by the outcome. Admittedly, I didn't know a hell of a lot about Raheem.
Calzage vs Lacy - I picked Lacy mainly because I didn't know Calzage had a performance like that in him.
I didn't have a strong opinion on this one way or another, but I picked Lacy. Calzaghe winning didn't surprise me so much as the way he won.
Tyson vs Lewis - I think any rational person picked Lewis here. Only the die hard Tyson fans still thought he had a chance.
I picked Lewis.
Hatton vs Tzyu - I picked Tzyu. Hatton had really been fed tomato cans up until that point and I thought that such a big step up would prove too much for him.
I picked Tszyu, and this was another one that shocked me.

I picked Hopkins- Felt Trinidad was too small for him.
Picked Raheem- Never saw Morales beating a bigger slick boxer. He was looking a little worn to me.
Picked Calzaghe- I never thought Lacy was a great fighter....gets hit way to much, which would be fine (he has a great chin) if he could box.
Picked Lewis- I didn't even think about this one.
Picked KT- Didn't think Hatton was ready for KT's level or power.

Lacy(I had never even seen a Calzaghe fight before that one)

All my friends thought I was crazy when I picked Forrest to beat Sugar Shane. They also thought he was unbeatable. Yeah, I know that amateur boxing is different than pro but Forrest beat Sugar Shane pretty easily in the amateurs, and I just had a feeling that Forrest height and jab would give him major problem again, and that Forrest had the style to beat him....I was right about the outcome.:yep Forrest almost knocked Sugar man out in the second round in their first fight....that was impressive:hey

Hopkins vs Trinidad - Tito. I totally underestimated Bernard
Morales vs Raheem - Morales. I didn't know much about Raheem, so I went for the safe and obvious pick.
Calzage vs Lacy - Lacy. I bought all the hype.
Tyson vs Lewis - Lewis. I wouldn't say it was a no-brainer pick because of Tyson's power, but I didn't expect it to be all that close.
Hatton vs Tzyu - Tzyu. I figured the powerful veteran would expose Hatton.

I'll be honest, people here know my process in analysing a fight for selecting a pick anyway.
Hopkins vs Trinidad - I picked Tito. Up until that point it didn't apear to be a question as to if he would catch bhop but simply when. Shit up until about the 7th round I still thought Tito had a chance here.
Hopkins, I won a bundle on it too.
Morales vs Raheem - I actually had Raheem in this one. I was so impressed with what I saw when he was robbed against Juarez that I knew his movment would give Morales hell
I picked Morales on this one.
Calzage vs Lacy - I picked Lacy mainly because I didn't know Calzage had a performance like that in him.
Made a thread before the fight that stated Lacy wouldn't win a single round, everyone laughed at me.:|
Tyson vs Lewis - I think any rational person picked Lewis here. Only the die hard Tyson fans still thought he had a chance.
I picked Lewis.
Hatton vs Tzyu - I picked Tzyu. Hatton had really been fed tomato cans up until that point and I thought that such a big step up would prove too much for him.
I picked Tszyu also, he's an all time favourite, I thought he'd have KOed Hatton, but Hatton stepped up that night.

lewis - ditto
tzyu - i didn't take into account that hatton would be allowed to break the rules

I thought Trinidad would be too much for him.
I of course thought Morales would beat Raheem with his skills. I had no idea how old Morales had gotten.
I thought JC would outbox him, but not that badly.
I thought Lewis would do to Tyson what he did to Tua.
I thought Tszyu would be too strong and hit too hard for Hatton to make it 12 rounds.
Ah, man... :-(
Trinidad-Hopkins: That was the last time I underestimated Hopkins :patsch
Morales-Raheem: Wasn't too sure, but I thought Morales could pull it off :verysad
Calzaghe-Lacy: I thought Calzaghe was nobody, and whoops :scaredas:
Lewis-Tyson: I couldn't see Tyson beating Lewis :good

I had Calzaghe. With Lacy stepping WAY up in comp, throwing those BIG looping shots, I knew he would be there to be hit. I didnt expect it to be as lopsided as it was, but..........not many people can say that they did truthfully.
I had Lewis. EVERYONE, I watched the fight with had Tyson........they gave me SHIT leading up to it.....then they gave me money afterwards!!!!!

Hopkins-Trinidad- I picked Trinidad. Trinidad was on a roll just steamrolling through anybody in his path leading to the Hopkins fight.
Hopkins outmuscled, outboxed and most importantly outsmarted Tito.
Hopkins was just to savy a fighter for Trinidad.
Morales-Raheem- I picked Morales. I had never seen Raheem up to that point. It took all of two rounds with Raheem running circles and darting in and out to figure that Morales who had just stepped up to 135 lbs was in for a long night.
Calzaghe-Lacy- I did'nt have a pick. It was a pickem fight I felt going in. As we know, most of us were dead wrong thinking this fight would be competitive.
Tyson-Lewis- I was giving Tyson a real punchers chance to upset Lewis. That is right up to when they weighed in and Tyson tipped the scales at 233 lbs. Tyson needed to come in light in order to have the speed to get inside Lewis' reach. When he came in at 233 lbs, I picked Lewis by mid-rounds KO.
I was right!
Hatton-Tszyu- I had seen Hatton several times on Showtime cards leading to the Tszyu fight. Although I considered Tszyu a great fighter, I did'nt have him in my top 10 p4p.
Tszyu imo had looked vulnerable against the likes of Urkal, Leija, and even Judad, leading to the Hatton fight.
In fact, I thought Urkal at the very least deserved a draw with Tszyu.
Hatton was a young, rough and tumble endless stamina type fighter with a vicious body attack.
Tszyu's age certainly helped in my decision to pick Hatton by UD or late tko.
I was right!

did anyone here pick vernon forrest to beat shane mosley?
I had picked Vernon to beat Mosley. I had watched quited a few of SSM and Forrest fights and felt that as fast as Mosley is, he got hit a lot. Vernon was a guy with excellent timing and length. The only thing that can nullify superior speed is superior size. Mosley is a lion, but once he felt Vernon's power he was done. He was groaning when he took body shots from Vernon. I thought this was an easy upset to pick.
