de la hoya/pacquiao a circus act but none the less a big event will be a couple of weeks after Hatton/malignaggi. berring in mind that GBP are promoting it will it affect the ticket sells/PPV numbers of Rickys fight and even though the MGM is putting up a sight fee wouldn't this fight be better of in the UK.

Nah - attendee wise they'll attract totally different demographics, that boils down to nationalities
PPV you might be right and there's only one winner - but is Hatton/Paulie even PPV in the states?

Hatton-Paulie is on regular HBO in the states so that won't be a factor.

regular HBO? really, and they were gonna put mosley/mayorga on PPV. i thought the reason it was in the US was because HBO were not willing to carry a PPV from the UK

Don't be so bleedin stupid. Hatton-Malignaggi on PPV?
Call me crazy, but I actually give Pacquiao a realistic chance against De La Hoya. It seems to be going completely against the grain, and some decent posters think its a farcical suggestion, but I just don't see why he hasn't got a chance.

I've not considered it greatly
I'm more upset at the way Oscar will claim the glory if he wins - 'I beat the p4p no. 1' and all that jazz
I don't think a Manny win is out of the question, personally

There is no snap in De La Hoya's punches anymore. They are so fucking slow, and he has no killer instinct or hunger in him. I honestly don't see him just bulldozing Pacquiao like people think
Sure he's going to look physically much bigger, and he'll be stronger, but if Pacquiao gets back to his buzzsaw style, in and out with speed he can win a decision. He certainly has the offensive ability to do it considering how little Forbes mashed up his face
Forbes was more defensive and generally looking to survive, Pac will take more risks, but at the same time Pacquiao is several levels higher in most departments.

I think DLH still has the power, but I agree with Freddie Roach that he 'can't pull the trigger anymore' and enables the opponent to get away.
OK - Stevie Forbes is as good a defensive fighter as one could choose for a tune up, and better than Pac in that department IMO, but as a genuine feather fister still managed to mark up Oscar, whilst Pac obviously packs more power.
I suppose it could be a Jones/Ruiz type - the younger, faster guy getting in and out before the bigger, older, slower guy can respond.
That said, I would still back Oscar to have too much pop for Pacquiao - he has slipped a bit, but still has the jab to keep Pac off and will frustrate him into making silly mistakes and will force a late stoppage.

I really can't see Pac winning this. Oscar has slipped but not so much that he can't bully a featherweight.

I think you always know what you are going to get with Oscar - the things that have slipped are the speed and ability to counter effectively. You get a near perfect jabbing machine with a supreme left hook, but a guy that can be outworked down the stretch.
Both of these things are the key to beating Pac (as JMM proved twice :deal) but the sheer size of DLH - who would be getting in at 160 ish as he is accustomed to will win through.

The weight is a double edged sword though. He might come in at 160, but that just proves how much weight he'll have to cut to make the welterweight limit.
He hasn't made 147 for SEVEN years.

Point taken :deal
It depends whether or not it is a healthy cut, i.e. Ricky Hatton (extreme example) cuts three stone (at least) but his natural weight is around 145/150 ish - the extra 25-30 is simply blubber
A healthy cut is fine (within reason of course) but starving yourself doesn't achieve anything and only leads to one thing.
Defeat.

I think Oscar will leave a lot on the scales
As TFFP said, the key is for Manny to get in and out again, quickly, keeping the close contact / infighting to a minimum
I really don't see a lot in Oscar these days
I doubt Manny will expect to KO him so I'd imagine he'll come in with a gameplan to avoid damage and win on points
If Manny can make Diaz look hellishly slow he can probably do the same to Oscar

Not sure - I feel Diaz was taken as an opponent for Hatton, but again totally different class.
Hatton is much quicker and better than Diaz.
Oscar is much better, and BIGGER - both in size and punching ability.

People are reading too much into the Diaz-Pac result, the guy is slow plodder. He was made to order for Pac to tee off on and Manny still and to hit him with everything but the kitchen sink get the stoppage.
