In sparring i have to fight middlweights. even up to super heavy, thpugh we very rarely get them in.

what combos work for you?

i throw the left hook to the body left hook to the head, get inside and then throw a short uppercut.

I fought primarily at 175lb but due to my height (6'3), I often came up against shorter fighters, best combination for me was always the double jab, overhand right which is pretty much the key combination for any tall fighter, no surprise there.

Sparring against taller fighters, I found they couldn't deal as well against head movement as the shorter fighters and were easily thrown off balance... therefore getting lower, as low as possible and throwing to the body opened up pathways.

From there, throw a left jab at their chin, more as a feint than any real meaning and shoot straight down low with a right straight to the sternum.. those bigger boys tend not to like that shot.

Land that a few times, they'll slow it down, then you can start using head movement to get in, left jab to the body, right uppercut upstairs and bounce out with another left jab to the head.

i don't really specialize in movement.

He probably dominates them with his speed and "pop", too, RDJ.

Everyone has "pop", or amazing speed.
Noone has good defense or footwork.
And you can bet he has a solid chin, too.

He has a rock chin, because at 5'4" / 95 pound he is quite a stocky guy.

Without my cock I'm a bantamweight.

Look all of your combonations should work with bigger guys, The difference is knowing where to start, look a bigger man is always slower than a smaller man so when you start out look to set a high pace make him fight at a higher pace than he is use to, once you see him trying to match your out put and speed go back to your jab and keep boxing.

Let him keep trying to fight you at that rate, just work the jab and stay relaxed, in a round or two he will be there for the pickings and once you hear him breathe heavy thats when you turn it on, and open up.

Be smart in there, all of your combonations should work its just a matter if timing and placement of your punches.

A 95 pound boy fighting super heavies. Right.

Yeah exactly.

Don't ask for combinations. It depends primarily on what your best combination is and how open they are to specific shots.

You can't just throw say a standard jab straight right left hook combination against a big guy and expect it to work.

I'm sorry, but I feel like I should be a dick.

I thought you said you didn't box.

So why are you posting on a thread about what works against big guys ?

You wouldn't know either.

Even if your post is non-affiliated with any kind of boxing training.

It doesn't matter whether it's bigger guys or not. The same combo is not going to work on everyone so it's pointless asking.

It doesn't matter whether it's bigger guys or not. The same combo is not going to work on everyone so it's pointless asking.that's how u can tell u know nothing bout boxing. if he's smaller than u then u focus mostly on cutting off the ring and banging him up on the inside, if he's bigger than u then u move around a little, hit him up and get out of there and wear him down and then, if u got power, come in and bang him up. the only one u can't really predict is when the fighters are equal and that's when u really have 2 match strengths vs. weaknesses.
