Vernon Forrest can definitely punch and he connected with a lot of good clean punches but Baldomir didn't go down...very impressive.

He's definitely got an amazing chin. What really proved it for me was when Baldomir stopped fighting because he thought he heard the bell for the end of the round and he got absolutely smashed by I think two full force hooks. Most people would probably have been down and out after getting caught totally off guard like that. But Baldomir was just pissed off with the time keeper.

That amazed me as well. He was looking at the ref and was caught completely by suprise by a monster left hook flush, and he didn't even bother looking at Forrest, he just kept staring at the ref, then Forrest hit him against with a monster shot, and Baldo still didn't even bother acknowledging it. He just ate those punches up and threw his arm in the air at the time keeper and ref.
For those of you talking about Vernon's power, the man hits extremely hard. If you remember, Mayorga even walked back after the second round of their first fight and said to his corner "that black guy hits hard!".

Forrest hits hard..how many boxing matches have you watched..Hell yeah Forrest hits hard. That right hand is no joke. He was landing crushing shots off guard and counter punches that baldomir did not see. baldomir was coming in wild and forrest was catching him..he did not flinch..I mean when his guard was down and forrest threw a bomb dead on he did not see it..threw his hands up..and yelled at the ref. I aint never seen no shit like that. He was not phased...lol BALDOMIR TOP 3 CHINS OF OUR ERA.

2 people cant have the BEST chin ever
Vernon Forrest doesn't have much raw power, but he does get good leverage on what he does have...Baldomir has a rock solid beard, but taking non-flush shots from Forrest doesn't make him Chuvalo...it easier to take shots on the side of jaw, but right on the point of the chin is the money...

i wonder if hagler could have taken sam peters, rahmans, holyfields punches
we will never know. but based on the fact that toney did, i would say he has the best ever p4p
but overall best chin ever was oliver mccall. he has never even been stunned
he said he did over 300 rounds with prime tyson, and wasnt ever buzzed and i believe him

JCC has been KO'd. Hagler, LaMotta, McCall, Chuvalo, Greb are at least as good if not better.
Pea I was talking about our generation more so the last 15-20. But MCCall can be there. I think he did not fight the biggest punchers at Heavy though. If he went in with Mike and came out on his feet then he would seal the deal.

Haven't seen the fight yet, but best chin after taking a few powershots from Vernon Forrest? Really? Shit, Mayorga actually LET Forrest hit him.
Forrest landed better shots on Baldomir than on Mayorga. Don't forget most of what will cause a fighter to be hurt with a punch is not seeing it coming. When Mayorga dropped his hands for forrest, he new exactly what was coming and from what direction.

So true...so true..he caught baldomir lunging in swinging I mean perfect knockout counter punch opporunity. I mean perfect. Baldomir took those punches, uppercuts left hooks right hands. I mean that is a chin. He was never even close to going down.

The difference between the shots Mayorga was taking and the ones Baldomir was taking is that Balo was EATING HAYMAKERS ON THE JAW and barely blinking!
Lets not forget the pummeling and the knockdown Forrest scored against Mosley- who has a great chin too.

Even if you know you are not going to KO a guy it's ok to throw more than 5 punches per round. Floyd had the speen and accuracy that he could have landed at will and maybe even forced a stoppage due to accumulation

Forrest is the only man to put Mosley on the canvas, and he was able to stop Mayorga in his tracks on several occasions, particularly in the rematch. He's got legitimate power, and the fact that Baldomir was able to take flush shots the way he did indicates that he does, indeed, possess an all-world chin.

A lot of fighters with great chins mentioned , but as usual when this happens I always have to bring up Wayne McCullough . Wayne also has a great ability to take body shots to go with his granite chin .
Baldomir does have a real solid chin though , I think we can all agree with that however he has been ko'ed even if it was right at the start of his career .

well if pbf only through 5 punches then tata should have beat him cause all he would have had top land was 6 to out point him in each rd.pbf is not a risky fighter, hes not a ko artist, hes not a big hitter and he has shity ass weak hands.
why would he want to sit down on every punch to try to ko guy that is 50 pounds heavier then him, well tata was about 185 walking around at that time but still i never understood why some people want the lil man to trade with the big man.
to me that just gives tata the benfit of the dout and he alreay upset judah and gatti, you wonder if he had some kinda jinx to him or something.i dont blame pbf for fighting him the way he did.he made sure know upset this way.

joe did clinch with lacy tieing his arms up, and you act like pbf fights everyone that way, and jc beat lacy up, ok but not evry fight jc had was like that.
pbf did the same thing but worse to gatti, so lets not act like pbf is not human and cant have a off night or just feel the need to fight a safer fighter against a big man who had the luckiest year in boxing since glen johnson.

so land a punch and then stay there for the return fire.if i hit a guy bigger then me i would move every time as well.pbf only started fighting like that when he moved to 147 fighting guys alot bigger then him.from the judah fight on down he has not fought like that before.
people act like his whole career was a hit and run.the last time he traded in the pocket was with castillo in the 1st fight and he loss that fight.its not fair to ask for pbf to go easy on fighters because he is that good.
its like saying to me thats not fair you are to fast so when you hit me
you have to stand still so i can atleast hit you back, dont gone the whole fight hitting me and not letting me hit you.

Tell me who you think had a more sturdy chin? You're going to have to name a fighter that fought punchers, took their flush shots, and didn't notice them. That's swhat baldy does
Mosley

Hopkins
Peter
Toney
McCall
McCullough
Holyfield
Margarito

It's much easier to take a flush shot when you are prepared and waiting for it, as Mayorgas was when he let Tito unload. It's not the same as getting a left when you're actually boxing.

Given the ending of his career, I cant put him up there, but i remember watching Ray Mercer take EVERYTHING lennox Lewis could throw and saying....GODDAMN this guy has a CEMENT JAW:good
Ultimately, I suppose it all caught up to him,
I give Baldo credit he's a tough SOB at a lighter weight.
I also gotta give SSM a very solid CHIN rating:good he took the best from larger and skilled fighters like Forrest and Wright and still saw the final bell.

Giving your word and promoting a fight are not the same thing. Fighters say things they don't mean or that don't happen when promoting a fight all the time. It is part of the promotion. Giving your word on a bet or something similar is another thing entirely. It is based on an entirely seperate premise.
kg0208

WHO did I bet?
THAT'S RIGHT.
shaddup
You bet me earlier that same week about Margarito making an offer to PBF while he was still at 140. The you tried to twist the situation by saying that PBF next fought at 147 so he was already a 147lb fighter, ignoring that he only moved up to 147 because the 140 champion wouldn't fight him and that he was still deciding in which weight he was fighting.
And then you made the statement you would leave if Margarito lost. Unsolicited. You didn't. So your word means nothing.
And I said "a bet or something similar". You are not promoting a fight.

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.
not doing any business transactions with you so what do you care..
it was talk, like how your hero Floyd says he is the greatest of all time and Roy " been knock the f out twice" Jones says he is still the best light heavyweight in the world.
I don't care. But I certainly know that you are full of it. So don't try and talk about what anyone else says. Message boards are ONLY about credibility.
And PBF isn't my hero. You can say it all you like if you it helps you. Jones on the other hand I will certainly comp too.
Lets compare. My hero (Jones) with yours (Margarito)...oh ok.
