Nothing set in stone but i got this from ESPN
• After first-season "Contender" star Peter Manfredo Jr. (31-5, 16 KOs) knocked out third-season participant Donny McCrary in the second round Aug. 22, he called out third-season tournament winner Sakio Bika (26-3-2, 16 KOs). Manfredo is getting his wish. In his hometown of Providence, R.I., Manfredo is slated to face Bika in a super middleweight fight Nov. 13 on Versus, the network that picked up the fourth season of "The Contender." Two other notable fights are also in the works: Jaidon Codrington (18-2, 14 KOs), who hasn't fought since Bika stopped him in the November finale, against New Zealand's Daniel McKinnon (12-3-1, 6 KOs), and ex-super middleweight titleholder Anthony Mundine (33-3, 23 KOs) of Australia in his U.S. debut against former "Contender" participant Miguel Espino (19-2-1, 8 KOs). "That's the card we're trying to finalize," said Tournament of Contenders promoter Jeff Wald, who is working on the show with co-promoter Jimmy Burchfield. "We're excited about this card and our new home on Versus," Wald said.
A shitload of ppl said Mundine would never fight in the US, I was one of them. I guess he really is looking to open up the US market for himself.

Just about everyone saw that fight coming surely? If he was going to Middle that was the guy he was always going to look at.
Taylor is a perfect Mundine opponant by their criteria. Plus he is usually only 1 fight away from being ranked if he isnt already and has enough of a following to make the fight a bit of spectacle.
Terrible mismatch though.

Taylor the lazy shit barely makes 160, so there's no advantage.
Phil i remember meeting you on the gold coast a while ago with Shannan before his shot against Raymon Joval, even then Shannan was getting schooled by his sparring partner who was a young Fijian boy with no fights. If this fight goes ahead its a definate mismatch.

Taylor fit and focused at welterweight was a special fighter. He was one of the few true title threats that came out of this country at the time.
Tszyu would have humilated him as bad as Mosley did though.

Hi Mella
I have to say I am not keen on this match-up. I did say my piece to Brad and Grant after the Seran fight but I guess Shannan is trying to secure his future

Only the other day, Taylor was confirmed as fighting Sultan on Oct 30. Maybe things have changed.

MANFREDO GETS WISH
It looks like Peter Manfredo Jr. of Providence will get his wish for a bout with another "Contender" alumnus, Sakio Bika of Australia, on Nov. 13, probably at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The bout, which is being promoted jointly by Jimmy Burchfield and "Contender" promoter Jeff Wald, will be televised by the Versus network.
Bika (26-3-2) is ranked sixth in the super middleweight division by the IBF. Manfredo (31-5-16) is hoping a victory will lead to a title shot against undefeated IBF champion Lucian Bute (22-0, 18 KOs) of Canada.

Any fight v Green will only happen should Mundine be unable to secure a title fight v Pavlik (or someone of similar standing) after his November fight in the US.
The whole idea of fighting in the US is to showcase his talents and ability to an international audience and more importantly the promoters and broadcasters.
If a fight v Green early next year was his No.1 preference there'd be no reason to fight on the undercard of Bika v Manfredo.
Think about it......

Mundine will never get near a ring that has Pavlik standing in it. First right hand that kelly lands will put the so called man to sleep. Comparing shetland pony to a thoroughbred in my opinion.

I heard Lovemore N'dou also wants to fight him. If Mundine fights either Taylor or N'dou it would be a utter disgrace and he deserves to get KTFO.
Choc was on the verge of Superstardom after demolishing Soliman in their rematch. The big fights were there to be pursued, if he really wanted them. Instead he chose the path of least resistance and quickly squandered all that with the bullshit fights he's had since.
It's good his next fight is in the US for the exposure, but what happened with him fighting Felix Sturm? I can't see how beating Espino will get him any closer to Pavlik (who's gone up to fight Hopkins and wants Calzaghe, and I doubt will be arsed about Middleweight mandatories).
Still can't believe Mundine turned down the Kessler rematch for a meanigless rubbermatch vs Soliman who he'd already beaten twice and KTFO. If he'd beaten Kessler that would've got him right back on the map and he wouldn't have to be on an undercard for a B level fight to chase Pavlik. Heck it could've put him back on Calzaghe's radar.
It's been so frustrating following his career of late, and to be honest very hard to be a fan anymore. He says one thing like how he knows he's one of the best and wants to prove it, yet does everything to suggest otherwise. Well he better get a move on as he is getting on a bit in age now, and should forget about trying to fool everyone fighting the Shannon Taylor's and Lovemore N'dou's, if he ever wants that superfight. Only one he's fooling is himself.
The mundine fight in the US looks like it is off.....he maybe fighting in Aust in november against......dont know yet.

Interesting. :huh
Last Wednesday the word was Mundine had made arrangements for his US trip, only had to get clearance from USA....
Fight has now gone from Boxrec and Bika v Manfredo is for the IBO World title.
Maybe someone's worried he'll hijack the plane and fly it into the LGM Grand.....

Fair go, take a look at the time I posted....3.50am ! :nut
I wanted to post "Madison Square Garden" but I couldn't remember the name of the place because I had to get up before sunrise and watch horses do exercise.... :tired
It's lucky no one was on the roads as I drove to the racecourse because there were times it was just like being in the US...driving on the other side of the street and all.
