Hi guys just wondering who has had bouts and how many? There are many here that have great knowledge and I was just wondering if those people have stepped into the ring before.
2 Amateur. 1 won lost 1. At this point I realised I wasnt very good, and didnt really enjoy being hit in the face repeatedly and that it was way more fun to watch other people who were better than me getting hit in the face instead.

The guys who I remember that have fought amateur and or pro are, TSFO, Bobby, T.C.W, SuperFlySam, I think Marcus had a fight or two as well, Oztriker in his younger army days got up to a few things as well. Lot of guys have done boxing or some martial art/sparring as well.

Ive had only 16 amatuer fights since I started boxing at 16.
Winning 9.
Tonnes of sparring, the odd fight on the street. But my actual gym boxing training has been pretty stop-start, for various reasons.
Ive started training a lot harder on the weights and doing road & bag work with my brother in the last two months. Considering getting back into the gym over the summer break maybe having another fight towards the end.
Got a long way to go to get into decent shape though.
I boxed for a couple years and did martial arts before that for 2 years. The martial arts that I did required you to fight MMA style with full contact and small gloves for grading purposes which I did against probably 6-8 different guys. I have sparred plenty of times with some good amatuer fighters, but have never fought, mainly because I have no gyms where I live, and because of my work I get to the gym to late to get the consistent sparring that I would need to fight. I am still keen though, and have found an MMA gym near by which apparnetly trains hours that would be more suitable for me. Boxing gyms always train too early, and being that I work white collar it is almost impossible for me to make it on time. I am working on getting some footage together probably in the next couple of days of hopefully some sparring or bag work or something to post on here anyway.

MSTR what time is too early for you?
My gym runs like this. (which i think is too late!!)
Boxing Mon.Wed.Fri. Starts 7pm - 8:45pm ($5)
Muay Thai Tues.Thurs 7pm - 8:30pm ($8)
I only go once a week , mainly to Muay Thai :bbb

I can only get there at 6 o'clock earliest. Which most gyms is too late to train, and definitely to late to get good sparring. Pisses me off. Anyway, I think my style is much more suited to MMA. I fight very aggressive, and like to rely on my speed and power. I am starting to late to really become a boxer, but because I already know the stand up game to a degree, and the basics of BJJ, if i can work on my wrestling I think I could compete in MMA within a couple years. Because it is a newer sport, i could do so pretty confidently, where as in boxing I would be taking on guys 10 times more experienced. I think I could get a few amatuer wins in boxing, but once I stepped it up the experience factor would be my downfall. Anyway like I said, I will post a vid and get your opinions.

MSTR
How much BJJ do you do??
Whats it like??
I was looking into that stuff, as its seems to be a very important part of the best MMA fighters styles. And there is a guy not far from me who teaches it.
I did a year of Tae Kwon Do when I was younger, dont waste your time with that stuff everyone, they charge through the roof and all you do is practice the same moves whilst the black belts much around and do their own shit.
I actually got in trouble for moving out of the way of a kick and making a more senior guy look stupid. Because you had do non-contact sparring in straight lines but the senior guys would always hit you a little, and I thought if I move a little to the left I could actually make him miss and counter him. Anyways I did it once and he cracked the shits and clearly tried to kick me hard, so I simply moved and he fell over. Only stayed one month after that, didnt learn anything because your not really getting into real fighting situations.
It is really good for beginners though.
I don't do it anymore, and I only did it to a basic level. I knew how to hold guard, how to throw someone off in mount, how to guilatine(spelling) choke someone, how to do a couple other chokes and arm locks and a basic arm bar. Enough to beat someone who doesn't know what they are doing. I've only ever had to use it once. I had a guy a few months back start me at a servo after a big night out. I walked from a mates place in with no shirt on and he had a go because he thought I was trying to be a tough c*nt or something. Walked up with his mate and yelled and screamed at me for like 2 minutes while i was waiting in line. Eventually I got fed up and blew him a couple kisses and he really got fired up. I walked outside and he tried to put one on me but I got off first with a lead right hand. Hit him smack bang on the nose but didn't KO him.
He came back swinging hard and I stayed tight and got a couple ripper uppercuts on him that rocked him. He was bigger then me so he grabbed me and tried to throw me into a wall but i turned him around and he went head first into it. It got pretty ugly in the grapple and he tried to claw my eyes, so I threw him to the ground. We struggled for a bit but because he had the weight he got on top of me. Using my BJJ I threw him straight off with my hips and laid about 3 perfect uppercuts into his face. He tried to crawl away so I kept hitting him and then wrapped a figure four arm choke around his throat and put him into dreamland. We both had a mate with us and his mate said he had obviously had enough. The c*nt lost about 2 litres of blood no joke. Had a massive split across his head from the wall, broken nose and busted mouth. There was so much blood it was just gushing out all over the pavment it was disgusting. I've got a photo on my laptop that I will load up to have a look, with me standing there and the other guys blood all over me. Good photo lol but probably not so good for him. He would have been a mess the next morning.
Anyway moral of the story is that BJJ does work in the street, although its more for one on one type stuff. What I really want to learn more of is the wrestling. Very effective and very dangerous if you know what your doing. Muai Thai is good, I love the knees and the clinch which I have already learnt to a degree, but the kicks leave you open to be knocked over easily when your fighting MMA IMO.

Brutal.
A Muay Thai elbow is awesome thing to know.
My ex- next door neighbour did kickboxing for years, I used to go to his place and train with him, using the equipment he had. I mainly just stuck to my boxing. He used to go over to Thailand every two years when he was younger, and you pay a gym not very much money and you can live and train with them for a few months. He said he would train with them for a like 7 weeks then have a 1 week holiday.
Anyways he showed me how to throw a good elbow, especially when someone is holding you its a weapon.
Ive used it twice, (in the 5 street fights Ive been in since Ive been an adult) and one time it worked a charm.
I was in a bar in Sydney, Martin Place bar I think it used to be called. Long story short, I was being removed by this arsehold bouncer, he was a fucking huge cunt, all muscle clearly roid assisted because his head looked so disproportionate. It looked like a pea on a gorilla.
Anyways he started getting really pushy and I told him to get fucked I was leaving anyway.

I would be using my kicks as a counter to punches, because you should be blocking your face well when throwing a good thai kick. Plus if you can hit there lead leg with all the weight on it.

Not sure why but he grabbed me by the back of the neck and starting saying how he could kill me with one punch so dont mess with him.
We moved like this for a about 3m until we got outside and he was being a fuckwit, even one of his bouncer mates said to him to take it easy on me.
So outside the club Im in front of him slightly bent over, and I feel his grip loosen. And so I turn just enough so I can see him and swung around hard, broke his girb, pretty much jumped at him with full blown elbow. Not sure where I got him, we both froze for like a second and so I bolted down Martin Pl. I looked back once he was just standing there, I didnt stop running till I got the Sussex St about half a KM away. If I had stayed he would have beat the shit out of me, maybe he wouldnt have stopped till I was dead.
I had got seperated from my mates so about half an hour later we finally meet up at the Rocks. I told them what happened in detail and they laughed. They said they thought that the bouncer had been hit by a pole or schoonered, because I had split his nose right open and there was blood everywhere.
Apparently he was kicking over tables and going nuts,he had to be restrained by the other bouncers. He was yelling "Im gonna kill that cunt" "let me go find him"
Tell you what though, my elbow ached for like a month after that. I obviously didnt do it perfect.
I thought to myself I got one back for the little guy that night, but I never went back to that establishment I must say.

hahaha. LMAO. Thats a classic. I would have loved to of seen that. Some of those c*nts get what they deserve. We have a club here in brisi where that back area has 3 metre fences all the way around. At the end of the night If you f*ck them off they lock you in the back with like 4-5 of them, all roid monsters and just kick the crap out of you. Seen it happen and its not pretty.

Does Family still rage??
Heard its the shit.

If you throw a Muai Thai kick correctly you pull your lead hip back on a rear kick which leaves your head open regardless. A front/push kick is good and I have used before because people don't expect it and it sets them up for your punches. Any round kicks though unless you time it perfectly will leave you open to getting punched or taken down. Kicks are still good though, and I am sure if you know what your doing you coudl f*ck someone up with them.

Nah mate GPO is the best club in brisbane hands down. Then monastrey then Empire then The Mett and then Family. Family is okay, gets a bit of an older crowd, doesn't have good dress codes so you get some yobbos in. I am a real snob when it comes to clubbing lol. GPO is where all the coolest people in brisbane go in my unbiased opinion. Heaps of culture,Really good fashion, really good house music, great venue, really modern. Not quite as big as family which is very big, but still bigger then most of the other clubs in Brisi. Clubs to me are all about what sort of crowd they attract. Family gets some hard out drugos and the guys still wearing their old billabong shirts and etnies. In comparison a lot of people at GPO get designer labels like Thousand Reasons, or really funky stuff from General Pants or Universal. It just depends what your tastes are though. Brisi club scene has changed heaps over the past couple years. What music are you into and what clubs where you live?

And you see that photo is a prime example of what I am talking about. What would happen if instead of looking to check that kick, the fighter decided to try to walk through it whilst keeping his hands up. He would most probably cop a hard kick across that arms, but the momentum would put the other guy on his arse because his balance is f*cked whilst on one leg. Kicks are very good don't get me wrong, they just need to be set up right thats all. That said I am sure if a tp Muai Thai guy threw a kick at you in a street fight it would do some damage.

My first love is the old Hardcore stuff, Gabber, Happy Hard and Hardstyle not many places play that in Sydney except sometimes a place called Space and Sublime (which is a Friday night at a big club called Home)
But I love my Electro/House aswell, those places just have the best chicks by a country mile but you can get some that are so up themselves. The best clubs for me would again be Home which hosts a night called Famous on the Saturday. YU, Sapphire Lounge, Arthouse, Empire, Funktrust most of them are up at Kings Cross and Oxford St
The clubs you would like would be around Cockle Bay and Darling Harbour like Cargo Bar and Home Bar (right near but not the same as Home Nightclub)
Melbourne is the best in speciality clubs I reckon they have several clubs that play all the harder dance music, they a few metal clubs, and some real indie weird clubs.
I dont drink to get totally wasted most of the time but when some of my mates go out in the city they get me to go along. These are a hard bunch some are bikie associates (no full members), army dudes, sailors, tradesmen, miners and they love hitting the pubs, mostly down in the Rocks.

yeah sorry, im very pro muay thai and most people are taugh bad technique from some wanna be tai bo faggot...!!!, but to throw a head kick in a street fight you almost deserve to lose, but ill crack one to the legs anyday. Im not a fan of king hitting but once (from behind/side) i slammed this dude with a running leg kick, he went down and couldnt get back up!!! it was kinda week but he kissed my girlfriend when i was still with her.
I kick him like 3 years after i found out, i dont forget dogs like him.
so MSTR when we fight :hey ....ill prove to you that i can land a headkick without taking a punch :good

Yeah I love clubs full of pretentious wankas and snobby bitches. I fit right in hahaha. Banker way saying that arthouse is good so might have to check it out if I go down this year. I have heard that Famous in Melbourne is really good also. I have heard that Melbourne is all about the hard trance scene as well though. I prefer funky/dirty house music personally. I just bought a unit right in the valley like 100 metres from GPO so that I have somewhere close to take sluts back too lol. Its been great so far, being able to take a quick walk and your straight home.

My brother's mate was like 6 times national Kyokushin (some kind of Karate) champion. Simon Kennedy was his name.
Apparently when he had only been black belt a year or two he was in a competition and he absolutely starched a guy in the first 30 secs with a kick like that. And that was a fellow black belt mind you.
Can be done.
He then lost to a Mr. Miyagi lookalike in the final.

Ive been to GPO...I've been to every club in Brisbane but Melbas is the money maker. Now it just got bigger and is planning to get bigger again in 6 mths it just owns the Gold Coast.
The Advantage Melbas has over all the Brisbane clubs is that on the Gold Coast there is basically only one area to go out in and that is Surfers.

Have you been upstairs GPO recently? Its been totally revamped in the past two years, and upstairs is the real night club, where as down stairs is more of a bar. Melbas is okay, I actually hit up a heap of Gold Coast clubs recently. The main problem for me is dress code and music. The music was a little bit old and some people get let in looking pretty casual. I still liked it though. Some good talent there. Good venue, good dance floor and a good lounge area as well. Also went to the bedroom and elsewhere. Elsewhere was pretty melow and funky but stil pretty cool, and bedroom was okay as well.

I guess your into Trance or Hard house or shit like that. To be honest I don't give a fuck really. You have come off like a total cock head, right up yourself and think your the shit. According to you, there is no point in going out in Brisbane because you are too cool for everyone:barf
Your a cock mate. You obviously don't have friends and don't go out in Brisi other wise you would realise. Come to GPO on a saturday night wearing the best clothes in your wardrobe and I guarantee you that you will not get in. There is a dress code at GPO. I never said it was an elite club, just that it has a stricter dress code then any other club in Brisbane because it does. The reason i know you won't get in is because I doubt you have a shirt in your wardrobe that didn't come from lowes.
:rofl at you sitting at home thinking your "too cool" watching tellie by yourself. What a mad cunt.

Fuck off then you bloody sook. The fox is a nice place for quiet drinks. You sound like the most arrogant cunt on earth. I never said Queensland had more culture then Melbourne or Sydney or anywhere else in the world.
Like I said, unlike you i didn't come on here trying to sound like I am top shit, and how I am better then everyone else. Pull your head out your arse.
Did you think I was going to be really impressed. Wow you have been to the UK. Thats so cool. I couldn't give a shit. I enjoy house music. If you like Techno or Trance or Hard house or breaks or whatever your into thats great.
I just don't know why you felt the need to come on here and start name slinging for no reason. Its like you don't have the intelligence to realise that people might have different interests then you, instead you just think that your taste in music is superior to everyone elses and you want to look down your nose at me.
You've revealed yourself to be a total wanka. Great Job. :good
why dont you fuck off to the UK cunt?
You can tell exactly what this guy is like. Travels overseas then comes back to australia and complains how everything is better over there. Tryhard who wants to sound like this really intellectual guy with tonnes of class and life experience. SOrry mate but i'm not buying it.
I love Australia. Its a great place to live and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I think the reason guys like this come back here is so that they can pretend to be that much better then everyone else. What a fraud. Sounds like he has a complex to me.

and yep, im up myself. thats why i insist on going to a place with someone out the front holding a clipboard checking that i bought my clothes from ceo
Elsewhere was pretty melow and funky but stil pretty cool, and bedroom was okay as well.Havnt been to the upstairs bit in the last 4 months.
The Bedroom and elsewhere is not my kind of club simply because it's a drug scene. I went to the Temple and it's similar to Bedroom in music and the people that go there BUT it is really funky inside, really nice overlooking a canal but it's not my scene.

Fair enough. Apparently fishos (spelling) absolutely goes off on a sunday too. Really great pub looking out over the water. Do you go there ever? Have you been to Platinum or Quest? I have heard they are alright but haven't had a chance to go.
Its funny whenever some1 posts a thread, somewhere down the line, the posts invariably wander off onto a whole different topic.
A lot of times it is necessary, because we cannot post threads of general nature in the Aussie forum. And posters like Barge FTA prefer to talk about these topics with the Aussie forum then have it moved to the lounge. i personally don't agree, but Barge insists that we don't always have to talk about boxing. If you have a problem with it talk to Barge. He loves a good discussion about general life in the Aussie forum. He loves his rugby league to. Sometimes I wonder why you would even come to a boxing forum if you don't want to talk about boxing, but he seems like a nice enough bloke so i let it slide. Can't knock a Katsidis fan.

I've been to all the clubs on the Goldy a few times.

trained as a kid at Mundine,s gym back in the 80s was due to have my first am fight in Melb and my trainer at the time was an old boxer who was starting to get into drugs and he just stopped showing up so me old man took over and the fight fell through me dad could not find the time to train me and there was no one else except Tony Mundine who use to help me out when he could but all in all I was training my self for a while andc got jack of it as Ii wanted to fight but there were no trainers interested in a 14yr old kid so I gave it away.Allways think about how I would have gone but its all to late now.
Have had my fair share of street fights though and just having the experience from training and sparring showed against lads who thought they could smash you.But these days I am pretty mellow as the last fight I had was a couple of years ago at a club called hell fire when this koori lad was hassling me alnight so I went up to him asked him what his problem was and why dosent he just have a good time and he called me a dog and it was all over put him in hospital and escaped before the bouncers were lookin for me.Got out side about 400m away and they came running out and chased me up the street.Needles to say I put in the long ones and was gone before they could get me.But after that I steered away from trouble after seeing what I did to the other guy it sort of scared me and now I am in my thirtees Im over that stuff now unless you harm my family.

2 Amateur. 1 won lost 1. At this point I realised I wasnt very good, and didnt really enjoy being hit in the face repeatedly and that it was way more fun to watch other people who were better than me getting hit in the face instead.
 thats understandable.

I'm o-1 with one loss by knockout. The first time I stepped in the ring was my last. I was 17 and I really wanted to be a boxer. I guess I watched too many Roy Jones fights and I thought I could do it too. I did good for about the first minute and a half. Then I got cocky and the other guy hit me with a stiff jab right to the nose. The fight was over. I was gassed and my eyes were watering and i couldn't see. As a matter of fact, my whole face was throbbing. I thought I was in pretty good shape because I ran track, but After that 90 seconds or so, I gave everything I had and was there for the picking. That was the day I decided to stay in the stands and not in the ring.

So you took a fight without any sparring or proper training?
