Guys, what can you tell me about Melero, he got starched by Romanov but was doing ok, or so I believe until that point.

His record looks a bit padded but so are many these days.

What are his strong points, can he beat Thaxton.

I like this fight and it is one Thaxton can win. Never seen the guy fight live so I would like to just how good this man is too.

Is this for a title or just a 10 rounder

For the EBU full european title belt, Romanov has vacated apparently, seems like no one has really seen Melero, how can you build a record like that and not be known, its a bit of a worry really.

Perhaps Thaxton can win this one

When he fought Romanov, it was like a fight between mirror images. Same style, same height, same physique. Melero was actually dominating, had Romanov down & hurt (possibly only badly shaken and wobbling, but not down. Memory ain't 100 %), but ran to a peach of a counter-punch in effort to finish and got cleanly knocked out.

I've also seen his fights vs. Mihaita Mutu, Jorge Lohoba & some others.
Very methodical, well-schooled boxer. Not the hardest of puncher, but surely one who wears you down.

Thaxton CAN beat Melero, but only with absolutely perfect performance. Most likely Jono is taking a beating in late rounds and either loses a clear UD or is stopped late due cuts.

About Melero been rarely seen... Well, Spanish tv covers almost no boxing so spanish boxers get relatively little coverage. Even Melero-Romanov is only available as a VCR recording with sole camera.

That also explains a majority of opponents being journeymen & worse. No economics for doing regularly better fights. With Spaniards, you should concentrate checking up ONLY the meaningful opponents and how they have done against those. Do not consider a huge majority of opponents being bums as a sign of "protected fighter", rather under-financed one.

Got a bad feeling that Thaxton will put in another 'old' performance.
