Without using any fighter more than once, these are the matches in HWT history that Id love to see the most.......
MARCIANO v FRAZIER
LISTON v FOREMAN
LOUIS v TYSON
ALI v LEWIS
JOHNSON v DEMPSEY
WALCOTT v HOLMES
TUNNEY v HOLYFIELD
Can anyone think of a better pairing without using a fighter twice ?
I reckon all those matches would be extremely interesting.
Ps. I know the title says 5 but I thought of another 2 then saved the thread without changing the title, oh well)

I agree with Marciano-Frazier and Johnson-Dempsey but would throw in Jeffries-Tyson, Lewis-Holmes and Ali-Walcott. As wildcards I would like to mention Schmeling-Wills and Langford-Fitzsimmons - also this fight wouldn´t be a real hw fight.

Very good fights. I think Frazier would get Marciano out of there on a TKO, if there were no cuts, it could go either way on points in a horrible one. Liston would beat Foreman. Louis-Tyson is 50.50. Ali would outbox Lewis. Johnson would maul Dempsey to a decision. Walcott Holmes would be dull, I think Holmes would win decision. Tunney Hollyfield would also be dull. I'd pick Hollyfield by decision.
Mine:
Jack Dempsey v Harry Wills
Sonny Liston v Lennox Lewis
Joe Louis v Mike Tyson
Zaire Ali v Rocky Marciano
Joe Frazier v Evander Hollyfield

Short and sweet. I put it in for entertainment value more than competitiveness, which makes it the odd one out in my list.

Now my picks for my fights -
Frazier W15 SD Marciano (A complete war with Frazier coming from behind to grab the tightest of victories after being down in the 2nd)
Liston KO6 Foreman (I really dont know with this one, it could go either way by KO, my most difficult choice next to the one below)
Louis W12 SD Tyson (The 2 greatest power + speed HWT punchers, this could go either way & either could win by Ko or pts, a complete toss-up but same as above, I always like to pick one)
Ali W12 UD Lewis (Lateral movement & speed enable Ali to outland Lewis throughout without really hurting the big guy)
Johnson W15 UD Dempsey (Lack of footage but judging on styles & reputation I think Johnson might just frustrate Dempsey by making him miss a lot & counter effectively for the most part despite taking the odd sizzler)
Holmes W15 MD Walcott (Classic technical match in which Holmes jab scores enough to bag a very close decision in a match were neither are badly hurt but both have massive respect for each others ability)
Tunney W12 UD Holyfield (Gene takes a lead early on by outboxing Evander, tho not by much but enough to win most rds, by the time Holy makes this a war, its too late as Tunney stays with him enough to keep his lead but Holy does narrow the gap enough to probably earn a rematch)

Excellent picks all of them. I think Zaire Ali against Marciano would be very interesting. Frazier vs Holyfield would probably be the most exciting though.

Some recent bouts that didn't come of/interesting matchups;
1. Lewis--Bowe early 90's, of course.
2. Morrison--Hide from that cancelled Arum China bout. I think Herbie had a decent shot at winning this, although the gambling line was Morrison. A live underdog in maybe a 3 round fight.
3. Vitali Klitschko--Tyson 2001 or so > Klitschko won WBO title. That was the bout klitschko said he wanted and that was the timeframe Tyson was going up against Neilsen/Francis and those other guys.
4. Holyfield--Ibeabuchi > Ike beat Chris Byrd.
5. Tyson--Tua in New Zealand. I always wanted to see how Tyson would handle the road warrior role & I always thought Tua would be about a 25% better fighter with that homecourt advantage in a big fight.

#1 Jack Johnson vs Muhammad Ali.
This fight would be the closest thing to a chess match in the ring IMO. The deciding factor would be the fighter who lands more punches attacking and countering while eluding punches.
#2 Floyd Patterson vs Rocky Marciano
This is a fight that could've happened if Marciano didn't retire early and tragically lose his life. I think it could have been similar to the match that Marciano had with Ezzard Charles.
3. Evander Holyfield vs Ken Norton
A battle between two of the best physiques the sport has ever seen when both fighters were at their primes.
4. George Foreman vs Earnie Shavers
Considering what Ron Lyle did to Big George and the excitement they brought in their fight, I would have loved to have seen what Earnie Shavers would have done against Foreman, even if it happened during George's second reign as champion.
5. Joe Frazier vs Mike Tyson
Perhaps two of the greatest swarming, pressure fighters in the history of the sport. Frazier's left hook was arguably the best in heavyweight history while Tyson's right hand is often compared to Foreman, Shavers, Liston and Lennox Lewis in terms of overall power. Tyson's left hook is not that far off from Frazier's as well, but still not as sharp a punch as Smokin' Joes.
Honourable mention, forgive me for the Johnny Cochrane.
Jerry Quarry vs Tommy Morrison.
The great white hype fight between two solid left hooking punchers, that both cut easier, albeit Quarry a little more than Morrison.

Making picks because it's fun. All schedule for fifteen rounds.
MARCIANO v FRAZIER: Frazier W15 Marciano. A bloody war. Rocky will have his moments, but by the end he'll be the worse for wear of the two.
LISTON v FOREMAN: Foreman TKO4 Liston. Sonny's way too slow to stay out of George's way, and for my money nobody in history beats Foreman in a shootout. Liston stopped on his feet.
LOUIS v TYSON: Louis KO14 Tyson. I can easily see Louis being hurt/dropped in the early going and really having to gut it out, but once we get further into the fight mental strength and strategy will carry the day.
ALI v LEWIS: Ali W15 Lewis. A reasonably competetive but not thrilling fight. Lewis will win a few rounds here and there, but Ali's too fast and takes a punch too well for Lewis to have a path to victory.
JOHNSON v DEMPSEY: Johnson KO15 Dempsey. Johnson will have to weather a storm, but ultimately he's better than Tunney. He hits harder too, and he has 5 more rounds to work with.
WALCOTT v HOLMES: Holmes W15 Walcott. Walcott has a moment or two, but ultimately it's not a terribly exciting fight.
TUNNEY v HOLYFIELD: Holyfield KO10 Tunney. Holy's much bigger and stronger, practically won't feel Tunney's punches, and while he's not a technical master like Tunney, he's no crude swinger either.
By modern standards Tunney floated between super middleweight and cruiserweight. Let's give him someone to fight who's a fair size for him as well as a fascinating matchup. Gene Tunney versus Roy Jones Junior.

Comment's on some picks
Louis Tyson - This would be a boring, one sided fight. Louis' timing and countering with straight punches will be too much for a relatively sloppier Tyson. Louis TKO 10. Small chance that Joe gets knocked down but if he does he'll just get up, keep the rest of the round slow, and then continue with what he was doing.
Zaire Ali vs Marciano: This would be like Thrilla in Manila with a prime Marciano getting the decision. It'd be sad to see an older Ali get beat up. A prime for prime match up would be much more fun.

Tunney was a great fighter, but I just don't see the baddest supermiddle of the 20's hanging in there with Muhammad fucking Ali.
EDIT: To expand, if you want to pick Tunney over Holy, well, okay. Even if I disagree, I see where you're coming from. But not Ali.
