edit:
Also, was there a chance that this one even happened in real? When Schmeling moved to the states to fight Wills was still active also past his best. How would have this fight unfolded?

I think it would be a close fight ,both had power ,and both boxed conservativley probing for openings.Wills is bigger ,durability maybe about even.I will go for Max by close dec.

If the fight had actualy taken place it would have been cold blooded murder with Schmeling acting as an overpaid gravedigger.

Prime for prime it could be anybodys fight. I will go with Wills as the more acomplished of the two.

Me too. Close decision sounds about right.

Wills had the skills, size, power and stamina to beat the dangerous counterpuncher Schmeling. I think Harry wins viá decision, 9-6...

I think it'd be an ugly fight, with Wills scoring a close UD or maybe a late stoppage.

Why do you think it would be an ugly fight ? Because of their styles? No ctiscism intended ,just curious.

They were both clinical out-fighters for one thing, so I'd imagine it'd be something of a chess match, that and Wills had a tendency to clinch often to smother an opponents power. Or so I've read.

The best recent source for reading and learning about Wills is C. Moyle's book on Sam Langford. It paints a far different picture of Wills than the big, slow and lumbering portrait that so many Dempsey fans refer to ....

Wills was huge, highly skilled, very fast, possessed a jarring jab and terrific power ... it is a shame we only appear to have footage of him as an old fighter being stopped by Uz ....it is also tragic that he was ducked by Dempsey and almost forgotten by history ...

The age gap between Max and Wills was large so if they fought in the end of the 1920's or 1930 Wills would have been way too old for a prime Max but prime to prime I think Wills would do a number on him ...
