I am not sure if it had been posted before but I just found some interesting statistics about the "great" fight between BH and WR.
"A post-fight CompuBox count found 132 combined clinches in the fight. Hopkins initiated 74, Wright 53, with five mutual clinches."

right on, mate.
and a foreigner like wladimir is howled down because of 62 clinches, and some of them peter didn't mind because he was so interested in lunging in for a nipple suck! :rofl

bias is so funny, and annoying at the same time!

I helped you out a bit with your grammar and whatnot, since you're concerned with not being... dumb.

People complain about Bernard, but look at the stats. It seems Winky did some clinching of his own.

Absolutely. Both are great fighters and will be legends in their own rights, but the match makers for this one should be strung up by their toe nails for hurting the image of both fighters.:fire

I watched it with 12 people and by the end I was the only one left watching. Everyone else went and played beer pong and stated that a "Curling match was more exciting than this fight."
Hopkins is a great fighter and was VERY exciting before he reached his 40's. People that talk shit about how he's the most boring fighter ever have probably only seen his last 5 or so fights. And for being dumb like some said, it's interesting how he's one of the smartest, if not the smartest fighter of this generation.

Yeah, there is a double standard. I'm glad someone had the number of clinches in that "fight".

I think mostly people complain specifically about him because he is a very dirty fighter, that makes fights really ugly. He was not only initiating most of the clinches as the compubox showed but he was holding, headbutting and even tackling WR several times with his feet.
I wish compubox had the number of headbutts in this fight.

Waldo actually clinched 94 times in the Sam Peter fight.
But I don't disagree with the OP. Hopkins-Wright was a shitty fight, courtesy of Hopkins.

If b-hop is so smart, old school and well conditioned how come he cant clearly beat jermaine taylor in two consecutive attempts? The man is methodical, lazy, unwiling to engage, dirty, boring and has little dynamism....Top two middle my ass......He is a businessman with gloves.....

That's funny. I couldn't see the fight as I was on vacation and didn't even know the result. So I thought I'll just take a look at ESB a couple of days later. Surely the board would be bursting with comments about this "modern classic", the "true fight of the year for the boxing purist". Guess what, I had to dig real deep in the threads to find any indication the fight existed. A true marking of a shitty fight, I guess.
