...I mean, why would anyone want to associate themselves with that guy? I just don't get it!:patsch

Apparently, DM is going to fight on Haye's undercards.

I think Haye would have been much better off signing Choi "Flash" Tsevenpureev - now there's a really exciting, committed, fair fighter and a really decent person too! :good

Welcome back Dece!!!

Derrys got a decent fan base and I suppose business is business, esp for a new promoter just starting out?

Hey, mate!:D

I agree it might put some more bums on seat, with the emphasis firmly on "bums", but with so many exciting, young English/ English based young fighters out there, you'd reckon Haye would want to go his own way and promote deserving, fresh fighters, not the likes of Derry! I mean, Haye was going to be all about fairness, goodness, sunlight and sweetness, right? And he goes off and signs Derry!

:huh

I mean...even Ruiz has some fans! Why not sign him too?

Hello Decebal! Well if the Haye/Matthews association is what it takes to get you posting here again it has its plus points. Brit forum hasn't been the same without you.... ;)

i don't like derry but he's a decent top level domestic fighter, and signing him has led directly to a derry- lindsay matchup which isn't bad.

its not like he's signed him and is throwing him in with journeymen.

He is a decent top level domestic, true, but there are quite a few others as good or slightly better around, right? They, however, will give the fans their money's worth. Derry has been given a lot of help by the judges during his career and will likely not give it his all in future either; can you teach an old dog new tricks? Why try anyway, when you can pick a dog that needn't be changed in the first place? :think

You;ve obviously only seen the Simpson fight and It was no robbery, the scorecards were too wide but he still won by a point since he wasn't Dq'ed. He should of been Dq'ed though.

If you want to moan about dirty fighting watch Skelton Vs Williams 1 or Hopkins Vs Calzaghe. Skelton and Hopkins get away with fouling.

What about Sam Peter and his super rabbit punches?

Haye likes to be independent of ******

Good for him

He worked with various different guys throughout his career

However it must be said - his biggest payday and biggest show he ever headlined was a Sports Network Fight

Probably because Frank thought he was struggling on the scales and felt his man would be in with a chance

Haye also signed top prospect lindsey, i think lindsey will win 7-8 round's against matthew's.

I agree about Choi Tsevenpureev. The guy is 200% more exciting than arsehole Derry.

When card are being paid for with TV money then a few seats on bums that derry will bring hardly matter. It is more exciting watching a Derry fighting with your tv turned off and sitting on a cactus.

Choi on the other hand is a different kettle of fish and would fuck Derry up the ass day and night as Derry is just a regional level fighter.

Simply because he got a decision against a Scottish fighter. :?

met derry mathews @ the weigh-in for khan-st.clair and was impressed by his politeness and the respect he showed his opponent, who wanted a photo of them together, no eyeballing or threats. i also heard he phoned matt marshs' trainer on the eve of the pickering fight to wish him good luck! all in all seems a respectful polite young man, but i wouldn,t want to meet him in the ring!!!

No fan of Derry , I did enjoy seeing Choi ruin him .

But he is a popular fighter in parts so why not sign him ?

Derry is a decent fighter who can still improve and take a few good wins domestically. I would not be surprised if he beat Lindsey and then Appleby by some margin. I think the guy has picked up alot of hate for some of his in ring tactics but I do not mind him going in that dircection. Outside the ring he seems a good guy.
