Should be a good match-up. Have seen both fight recently. At this stage of Micevic's development I reckon McKay has him covered, but been wrong before!

I don't agree that he was aloud to start a pro career in boxing after what he did. I know it takes 2 to tango but a mans life ended from this chaps hands. Beware of karma, it will come round to even the balance. Go Kane!

It's not like he's the first boxer to go outside the law. I doubt very few know the full circumstances. Our legal system found him not guilty, not much else he can do.

Zdravko putting in some good rounds with Porky last night. Great sparring you'd almost pay to watch. Light heavies really dominating the scene in Melb at the moment.

Im goin for Zdroko, david hooks was a mouthy cunt who cheated on his wife,(just what i heard) and we are all going on what we have heard, nobody knows what ahppen, plus he was found not guilty.

Do you know why he hit him Leon? I dont.

But if he did just hit him and kill him, wouldnt he be in jail now?

Saw McKay beat Chas Njock and he was impressive. After that Porky Lovett stopped him on cuts and then an SD loss to Jungle Boy.

First time I saw Micevic fight (against Chan) I wanted him to get smashed, like many others. But I think we need to get over that. Nothings gonna change what happened now. He's been tried, and it's done with.

Against Chan he struggled a bit in the latter rounds (perhaps a bit lazy), and I really don't think Chan hits that hard. He was better against Vakia, and the punch he decked him with would have dropped most. If Micevic is keeping up with Porky in sparring that's also a positive.

Should be a good match-up. I still think McKay on pts. But Micevic is on the learning curve, improving with each fight and indeed surprise.

Would like to see Micevic fight Heath Stenton next, if Heath's still going around.

well, yes but not 100%yes, he could have got hit by a car or anything.

or he could have mouthed off to some other doorman and got a whoopin

Im just sayin, i dont think Zdrko mean to kill him, and he was found not guilty, he is young and deserves a second chance.

LeonMcS
09-19-2008, 12:01 AM
So if your young and didn't mean harm you deserve a second chance?

But if your a mouthy cunt who cheats on his wife (who he was seperated from) you deserve...

He could have got hit by a car but he didn't. He was laying in the gutter at the time after being assaulted. He could have mouthed off to another doorman but he never got the oppurtunity. He was a block from the hotel where Micevic was employed.

This is not personal Marcus but I can't follow the logic here.

Shit mate, I was a mouthy prick who cheated on his girlfriends and gave bouncers shit when I was a young 16yo dickhead. Now I'm 30s and and a father with some wisdom behind me.

lol true that..

Makes me laugh.

People who dont follow sports would think he cured cancer the way the aussie community(mainly the media) bunged on his death.

I had two mates(key word HAD) who jumped a 35year old father of 3 killing him in the process all for his wallet.Bloke was getting some ice creams from the local shop 4 the young un's(seriously this stories a shocker).made the local paper on page 9 with a whole 5sentences mainly devoted to the offenders.

I hope both boys put there all in and the best man wins (McKay :hey ). It is a great fight for Aussie boxing.

EGO's in the boxing world can be extreme in some cases, boxers, some promoters even try to go there. I would like to say that I don't agree with Micevic's choice of occupation but then again he may be using his agression in the right way in the right place.

"Please do not let EGO get in the way of doing your dutiful job".

If he 'KING' hit him he would be in prison.

Exactly.

The courts dont hesitate to throw the book at thuggish bouncers etc.

He recieved next to no punishment so to me the courts etc found no substantial evidence to say he dog shoted Hooksy.

Unfortunetly Hooksy got hit right on the button.Im glad the courts obviously listened to the whole story rather then throwing the book at the bloke because he happened to end the unfortunate incident.

I wasnt so lucky.

I done 6months in juvenile detention because some goose tried starting shit with me for absolutely no reason .But because i won the dust up,causing damage to the blokes facial features i was mad to look like the mug and spent time in a cell wondering why i bothered defending myself.

No worries. It aint always as simple as he killed the bloke so he desrves to rot in the slammer.I only done 6months in kiddies jail but still sucked ass being punished for something every1 tells their kids from a young age.Dont every pick on any1 etc but u must defend yourself.

When i seen that Micevic got off i was very surprised. As i mentioned before the courts dont mind handing done harsh penalties to thuggish security officers etc.

Made me think that he definetly must of had substantial evidence to prove he was seriously provoked to act in the violent manner he did.

As u have mentioned before he probably hasnt choose the best ocupation to take up but i guess he knows what to expect.Going to be a tough road to success.

Its because all the bleeding hearts knew of the guy that Micevic killed. Had he not been a famous cricket player no one would care. I agree with ozzie that he must have had a good reason for what he done as he didnt get put away for it.

This fight is an oppurtunity for Zdravko Micevic to show the country that he is serious about forging himself a boxing career and that he did not re-enter the sport as a quick "money Grab" as he was accused of in the papers. He is focused and confident that he can do well and hopes to represent his country at a higher level. Most that have seen him perform have seen that he is quite talented. I have never heard any negativity at any of his first four fights with most of the crowd being very supportive, but he knows that there will always be some who question his motives. After his debut, he said in his speach,

"Thankyou for those who came tonight to support me, and for those who didn't thankyou for coming and supporting boxing."

Hopefully a good performance - win, loose or draw, will go towards earning him some respect.

Micevic had his first fight down here a year and a half ago, and he's had three more since. I've attended a couple of those, and though I started out a doubter myself, I can tell you that Melbourne is now only interested in how he goes in the ring. The other stuff is history. Maybe it'll take the rest of Australia a little bit longer?

Having said that, I'm yet to be impressed that he's any sort of gun just yet. But the McKay fight will tell us a lot more about where he's at, and what sort of potential he has.

One legacy Micevic has given us is a term to add to the australian vernacular.

My mate got into a fight with these two guys outside a train station and knocked one cold. Said the bloke got "hooksyed" on the kerb, pretty sure he lived though.

maco_187

ive said it before said it again, micevic got villified in the media because he happened to knock out an icon and killed him, had his name been different, and had the person that died been someone that wasnt in the spot light i dont think we would of heard much about it at all.
killings happen all the time in sydney, and we barely here of things that happen on the news, why is that? does the media decide to just show what can make them a quick buck? or is it the fact that if two guys kills each other and there not a public name no one really cares?
sometimes people are forced to do things to protect themselves and there family, and sometimes the results that happen arent to great but its apart of life and we should all deal with it.
micevic more so then anyone else would of had the book thrown at him had he been guilty as he has been potrayed.
let his boxing do the talking now, he has every right to earn a living in this country as does everyone else.

Where are things now in terms of a light heavy title bout on the 31st CLip?

The logicals would seem to be Heath Stenton, Kerry Foley or Jonny Walker? Stenton hasn't fought in nearly a year. Foley & Walker have both had recent hit-outs.

Porky's might be back in the Aussie title mix having lost to Tiger Bell. But not that soon.

The random post does raise an interesting question though.

What has become of Micevic - won the Aust light heavy title in the bout against Casey late 2008 - and then disappeared off the scene.

Perhaps his aim was the title, and now that it's done?
