Not even halfway through and he's already asked Calzaghe about his comments on RJJ in his book, asked him about Pavlik also and asked Pavlik if he ducked fights with Calzaghe in the past.
To think some of you lot thought he wouldn't ask the questions that matter.
Also Kelly Pavlik said he comes on ESB while he was on the phone :good

Yep, it was a very good interview. JC hit the nail on the head about Pavlik, America are so desperate for a boxing hero they are way overrating Pavlik.

I agree, other then that you couldn't have really asked much more from the interviews. There is only so much grilling you can do.
Good show so far - good to hear Pavlik as well.
Hopkins on now.... says jones Calzaghe will be a slap contest lol...

2 great interviews though and, more importantly, Jones confirmed my view on why the Calzaghe and DM fights didn't come off years ago!!:good

Can anyone give me the jist of Calzaghe's response to his book claims about RJJ and Pavlik?
Good on Bunce for bringing those up, hope this interviews pops up on youtube soon.

gaz credit where credits due & credit to pavlik - i reckon hopkins will be his 31 knock out - i also think the calzaghes will be scared of a fight of he gets thru roy

Great show so far. Hopefully we can get Haye's opponent locked down as well.
I think Bernard was trying to say he created the blueprint for beating Calzaghe.

Agree or disagree with him Bernard is often entertaining. I enjoyed that interview lol - good show.

my only problem with the show... the length of it, i mean it has to be extended to at least 90 minutes, i hate it when bunce gets rushed off the show at the end when there is still plenty to discuss.

I have never EVER found Bernard Hopkins entertaining. Quite possible the most horrible and ignorant fighter to watch this side of the war.
Bunce did an excellent job asking the questions. Thought Joe made a good account of himself. To sum it up quickly for you bizzer Joe said that when the book was wrote he did believe what he said and thought it best Roy retire. However he has to give credit where credits due and that he Roy Jones has got himself together again and earned a fight and that fans have to remember Joe is no spring chicken himself and when they talk about him fighting oldies, he is one himself. Says that Pavlik was offered a fight against him after he hammered Lacy and then after Lockett (I love Gary but with all respect he never should have been in the ring with Kelly was Joes words). However Pavlik wanted nothing off it and only started running his mouth when the fight with Jones had been pretty much sealed. Says due to the poor standard of current Americans at that weight, Kelly is being overrated by the US Media similarly to Lacy I presume.

It was good to see JC give an honest assessment of Lockett at that level, the most fucked up line of reasoning to come out of the General Forum in a long time was that Calzaghe cooled on the Pavlik fight after seeing what had happened to Lockett. :patsch

They were saying that BEFORE the fight. Like `after what happens Calzaghe will run a mile`.
I'm pretty sure Calzaghe wasn't stunned by the outcome...

what was the answer to bunce's questions on joes comments in his book???
calzaghe basically said that 2 years ago he thought jones should retire and that he was washed up, but since then his opinion has changed having watched jone's last couple of fights. i thought he answered it fairly well

Think Calzaghe and RJJ gave excellent accounts of themselves, whatever people on here think of them in the ring they're now a credit to the sport.
Pavlik came across (as per usual) excellent too, I honestly feel this baiting between him and Calzaghe has more to do with their managers/team than the 2 men themselves.
Hopkins was, well Hopkins, bit of a cunt IMHO (great fighter though)
What it did get me thinking whilst watching the show was that I think were cheaping this fight a little on internet forums, yeah I know a lot of people on here don't like Calzaghe and says he slaps etc etc but he is undefeated, and yes RJJ is probably past his best but he's Roy Jones Jnr god dammit! And yes the fight probably wouldv'e been a better fight years ago but its still a mega fight and we should stop knocking it and sit back and enjoy. Remember massive fights like these sometimes bring out soething different in fighters, this one's gonna be a good en' I can feel it :D

what was the answer to bunce's questions on joes comments in his book???
Joe basically said that since commenting in the book Roy Jones has earned a shot, and has had some impressive wins.
Joe stated he offered to fight Pavlik twice; Pavlik denied this.
"WBC and WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has denied claims that he turned down the opportunity to fight Joe Calzaghe. Pavlik, who takes on Bernard Hopkins on the 18th of October, has said that no approach from the Calzaghe camp was ever made. In an interview on Setanta Sports ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) News during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour Pavlik said: “I don’t know why they keep throwing my name out there. They never ever offered us the fight. Calzaghe? Never."

Enjoyed the show. Thought they were gonna both be in the studio but not to worry, it was all good nonetheless.
yep...good...in the studio or in another room..dont really matter..
btw maxy...off topic...shaw's still in the same shape nowadays as he was back in the 70's...didnt he beat ron stander quicker than joe frazier??
Just watched it, great show.
Getting the interviews with the fighters is a great idea.

I sat there with a huge smile on my face the whole time, so much so that my girlfriend took to saying I was gay for boxing.
It wasn't that, how often do you get to see those kinds of interviews on British TV nowadays? It also definitely got me more excited about the fight. My only worry now though is that Roy and Joe respect eachother too much. I have a feeling they'll start off slow and with too much respect, do some showboating and then, as the end of the fight comes, realise they have some to go in order to win and go hell for leather.
They were hugging eachother. Do you think this will effect the style of the fight?
Well done Steve, more please!

was a good show last night but was surprised at the level of respect joe and roy have for each other i mean damn they were standing in the same room laughing and joking together , it just goes to show you havnt got to hate each other to fight but just hope it doesn't carry over to the fight as it wont be as intense. was glad to see Roy has mellowed and and seemed to be more a down to earth , i guess thats what happens when your invincibility is broken.

Yup, Bunce did himself proud this time. Sometimes you need someone willing to ask the awkward questions no matter how big the star...sometimes that makes it even more important!

Buncey is the UK's Larry Marchent, not remotely scared of asking awkward questions to the fighters. I must admit, I used to find him a bit full on, but the more I watch the more I like the guy, he's a breath of fresh air.

Great show
Anyone else think Paul Dempsey has 'done a Lynam' and completely lost it having switched channels? I found myself wishing the regular guy was on - he's growing on me
Im really beginning to warm to Buncey, sometimes he gets me annoyed with his over exagerations but other than that he is becoming ok.
Im sick of saying this but Joe should have fought Pavlik instead of Jones, Pavlik with his walk in predictable style is made for Calzaghe.

Yeah I prefer the regular guy (forgot his name but he knows Micheal Hunter)
Dempsey kicking him off just cos they had the BIG names on.

I'm not sure who the best front man would be for boxing coverage.
Neither Dempsey nor Jim Rosenthal seem to quite 'have it', whilst Dave Clark is more of a SSN man really.

Didnt see Buncey but will do.Sounds like he played a blinder.
Personally,i think this site will keep him on his toes. Were the hardcore footsoldiers that he (hopefully) respects and listens too,not the casual only know Khan & Hatton types.

Am I the only one who got the vibe that Dempsey either doesn't like Bunce or is is slightly nervous of him? He looked totally unsettled on last weeks show and seemed to be "zoning out" a lot of the time when Bunce was talking.
