News just in says Carl Web will turn his hand to boxing after footy.
State champ in th AM's.....he should do very well.
I think he should give the aussie scene a shake up...shame it wont be for a few years.

I think he still has 3 or 4 years in the NRL as he is only 28 now.
Shame as it would be good to throw him into the aussie boxing mix right now....or at least in 1 year after 4 fights.

Not sure he would have the right work ethic to make a good go of it.

Yeah perfect, props are trained specifically to work their arses off for 20 mins and then get a break. They the shock troops of league.
Im sure Webb would smash a few guys early and he probably didnt have a problem with the 4 round distance like in the ams.
But its that next step that takes him to the later rounds that might make the difference.

Webbs got better credentials to make it in boxing than sol or hoppa did, I'd have to say he probably would make it on todays Oz heavyweight scene. Whats happened to Roger Izonretti, surely he could be a serious opponent for any of todays heavies?

I think he had a go at muay thai but got destroyed because his first opponent was "the sting" slowinski. I dont think webby is better credentialled then haumono, Solomon's old man was a former aus heavy champ and im sure solo would have had more than 5 amateur fights

If its so useless dont post then....start a thread of your own and contribute something worthy of your high standards.
NRL players entering boxing is a relevant story even if its a few years off....bud.

Kickboxers are better off with longer legs while shorter strong guys like the web and tyson mould fair better at boxing.

izonritie was one guy i liked watching the guy had serious punching power, but didnt have a great chin either it made for very interesting fights..... his brother was the better fighter of the two, just came up short against tua no shame in that back in the day.

Gonzo Hooper has offered up three guys in his gym to fight Carl Webb.
He says all three who are just average fighters would beat Webb.
Gonzo doesn't mince words and when asked by a reporter about the similarities between Iron Mike and Carl Webb which his manager was suggesting in the article...
Gonzo replied "well they both have two legs but thats where the similarities end".
Told the Journo Carl Webb has very poor power for a guy his size.
I guess he should know .... seeing Carl Webb trained in his gym for 12 weeks??

yeah beat alex by split decision in his hometown this was a brutal & bloody fight during their skinny 60kg days...lol,very long time ago & I still got the only video that was recorded.
Good luck to alex fighting the undercard of Shane Cameron in Christchurch this saturdaynite it'll be his biggest challenge to date taking on Tongan & Southpacific HW Chmp Alipate Liava'a, its his 1st experience fighting overseas and mentioned he's proud to carry the aussie flag.

Another interesting fight taken by Leapai. Alex sure isn't afraid to get amongst it.

Alex, Nasty Boy & Hoppa will take hard fights. It's a shame Haumono's management don't seem to want to really challenge him as he does have talent. His last fight showed he needs to go some rounds and learn how to pace a fight. Hard when you're fed a bevvy of easybeats.

As I said, Sol probably learned more in that one fight, then all the rest put together.
