lead hand uppercuts (orthodox)

how many of you guys use the lead hand upper cut? Im trying to but just like the rear hand hook, just feels very akward to throw.

I love the uppercut but I'm not really able to land a lot of left handed ones. One thing that did seem somewhat successful was throwing it after an uppercut to the liver. One downstairs, one upstairs right after it. Some people throw a long left uppercut (from the outside) but I don't really like that. Except maybe to set up a right straight. Dunno, don't use it much I guess.

yeah, sometimes it can be thrown from the outside to set up a right, or even after a right. also, if you slip a jab to the inside, it's a good punch to throw (but slipping a jab to the inside isn't always smart)

One of my fav combos is a jab left upper right hand left hook damn near gets them every time, I dont throw that left upper to do damage I throw it to bring their head up, its a throw away shot, the punch I want to do damage with is the straight right hand.

From what i've realise from the sparring that i've been(which is limited) is that they are good against a opponent that is being broken down.

You'll need to be hitting them already with rights hooks and jabs and then when/if there defense starts to slip you can slip in a lead uppercut.

I use a lot of body uppercuts (right hand mostly).
When it lands it almost ends up to KD or KO. But it doesn't land very often.
It is difficult to set it up. (Talking about right hand, orthodox). Left hand is faster and lands more but I don't have that much power in that hand.

When I throw left uppercut to head I usually faint that I 'll jab or give a cross.
I believe that right straight is the next obvious move.

jab, uppercut, straight like bazooka said. ortho or southpaw both feel very comfortable to throw. the left hook on the other hand is a different story.

Extended crouching to the left and bang that left upper to the body, or rise up and interlock it underneath the opponent's cross.
But most here say it is good combined with a cross and I tend to agree with that.
